hi everyone! i'm currently on a dilemma on choosing what hospital to work with..or do i have to consider having training first at Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines and the likes. I passed applications in Capitol Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center and Manila East Medical Center in Taytay Rizal. I'm presently living in Pasig. Any comments or suggestions will be of great help. Thanks guys.

Hey guys, there are a lot of hospitals in the metro. Not only those that you have stated above. Consider the Tertiary Government hospitals in your area. The work might be back breaking, but i think it's worth a try. If I remember correctly, they even pay higher than the private Hospitals. And most important you would be helping a lot of our indingent countrymen that needs your TLC. In the provinces, there are lots of vacancies on this hospitals. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

hi happyMe! Just went to PHC this afternoon. I had my exam re-scheduled. I was suppose to take it last july 2. Unfortunately, i got sick and I also lost the schedule slip and just found it yesterday. My exam was rescheduled to October 22. Whew! Anyway, I asked the person at the HR how long the process will be and she told me that, right now, the nurses who took their exam last oct and nov (2006!) will only be having their panel interview by this month. So ,it's really a loooooooong wait! She even advised me to apply to other hospitals while waiting and just transfer if ever I'll be hired after the entire process.

If you are really interested in getting a job at PHC, I suggest you submit your requirements asap. Then apply to other hospitals while they are still processing your papers...Good luck and God bless!!!!

oh..i can't wait that long.maybe i'll try MMC..thanks for all the info..

Thank you very much rn 05 and everybody. My other problem is that I have passed all the exams (CG,IELTS,NCLEX), would that be a problem to my application at PHC? Because I learned from my friends who works at St. Luke's and MMC to deny that I have taken all the exams otherwise I will not be hired.

How can I send you PM?

if you are considering USTH, the firm is requiring the applicants to have at least 80% NLE rating. it is posted in their office along hand with the other requirements. but if you want to try your luck then take the risk. they will be accepting you application but then would vouch that it would take longer time to process your application form than those who would be meeting their standards. the wait to be scheduled for an exam is really lengthy i tell you (even if you met their standards). i was advised that the applicants who would be scheduled for an interview are picked randomly (though i am not sure about this stuff).

with regards to PHC, i advise you to submit your applications stat if you want to have a slot for an examination scheduled this year. for the bulk of applicants are overrating and would be constraining the firm to schedule the others next year. if i am not mistaken, if you would be applying this month, the only available slot would be on october/november onwards. and one you opt to apply, you will be asked to fill-up a sheet full of statements needing your response. and it is soooo lengthy i tell you. so be there by 1300hrs or so because their office would be closing by 1630hrs or maybe extended up to 1700 hours. if you really want to work in this firm then i urge you to apply as early as possible.

with regards to pgh, if you chose to work here, you would also undergo a long process before you get in. if you would apply now, maybe you can take your exam on november or maybe december. then its still a long way to go. after such would be another waiting moment to be scheduled for a panel interview. most government hospitals' processing of application do takes some time.

if you want to get in SLMC (St. Lukes's), and you are batch june06 nurse then you will not be viable to pass your application. you will be told to wait for the result of the exam and then you will be allowed to apply. they would also not be considering the petition of those who opt to hold their physical examination just to fit in the review for the retake (june07). the latter applies to those who managed to pass the iq, psych, and clinical exam and was scheduled to have their PE but then opt to hold their PE due to the local review. but if you do not belong to the conditions i stated above then you may pass you application directly to the department of clinical advancement. they would be giving you the requirement in their office. at this point in time, the processing is somewhat faster for my friend applied and was asked to have the first set of exam in a matter of 4 days! that's fast! this would be followed by clinical exam after a month then a physical examination after 2-3 days then the panel interview. then you are off to take the NSET, which is the training proper.

with regards to being transparent on your status (passing the 3 foreign exams), i would say that it would not be that of big help to your application. ok transparency is good to practice but then in this country of ours it works little to no avail. hospitals are hiring applicants whom they think are capable enough to serve their firm for quite some time. and with them knowing that you passed the 3 foreign exams would be detrimental to your application. i mean, would you expect an employer to be accepting applicants who would leave them in the end after everything they taught and provided? i don't think so. and if you would be able to get in and opt to leave the hospital breeching the years of necessary service they expect you to provide, don't expect them to give you any certificate of training of any kind. in the end, your purpose of gaining an experience was reached but then you still have a problem -- you have no proof. if you opt to leave the country soon enough, i advice you to avail the trainings provided by various hospitals in which you are bound to pay them for the training they would be providing.

for your guidance and information. God Bless!

Hi! I guess, hospitals who ask if you have taken the exams just want to know if you're going to leave without finishing their contract if ever they hire you. So denying that you have taken the exam and passed it doesn't really matter (for me anyways) as long as you work well when they hire you and give your 100% as a staff nurse. Good luck!;)

Blabber is right. It doesn't really matter if you pass the foreign exams. Its how you stay on the job and following your contract. Everyone knows that nurses are living the country especially nurses from tertiary hospitals. That's the fact! Its just a matter of being loyal to your chosen hospital while your still there....

Thank you very guys for the enlightenment. I appreciate it very much.

Good Luck to all of us.

I notice you aren't mentioning Makati Med, is it not a good place to work? They have a good reputation too, right?

Yup! Makati Med. has a good reputation. I've been in that institution for 4 years and able to witness some of its ups and downs... It's really a good hospital to practice nursing

Oh! I'm just a student not a nurse...
