Hi, I am currently working casual RPN position at LTC in Toronto. I got my RPN license last year, since then I have only two casual position. My nursing career is about 10 years, I am an internationally educated nurse. I know every one struggling this nursing job market in Toronto...

  • Now, I am thinking to work at call center as medical interpreter for my original language speakers. It is full time job with benefit package. Of course salary is less than RPN job, but I am working only 4-6 times a month. I am not sure when I could get part time at LTC...
  • I also want to have kids in couple of years(I am in my mid 30s), my life style will be changed and I do not know if I could continue work with raising children.. maybe casual work is better for mom

Accepting a call center position will not enhance your nursing career, moving to a non-nursing career shows a lack career direction. You would be better off putting effort into increasing your depth and breadth of knowledge of LTC, buffing up you resume, then applying to every LTC that is located within an hours commute. Can you join professional organizations? take workshops or certification courses in gerontology etc?

I don't understand why wanting to have children "in a couple of years" would preclude your working now.
