Hi all

I just thought that I could bring this up because it's been on my mind

Are there any nurses out there who were in clinical nursing and were given the opportunity to land a career in management or administration of nursing..specifically to RPNs because I am an RPN.

Regards

Eric

You might want to try posting on the Canadian forum.

Registered Psychiatric Nurses are unit managers, so I don't think there would be any hassle with going up the administrative foodchain.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

Are you a Regisitered Phsychiatric Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse?

Specializes in Home Care.

I'm a Canadian LPN working for a private agency in homecare. I'm in a supervisory role, do mentoring and administrative tasks. I know a manager who is an LPN.

I won't expand further because I want to maintain my privacy.

So to answer your question. It all depends on where you work.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

OP, how much bedside experience do you have?

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

Jobs in administration and management for RPNs are rare.

Lori, out here agencies like WeCare and Bayshore hire us to be care managers, schedulers, trainers and mentors to NAs. Does not pay union rates and usually ask for a good background in bedside care so you know how much support the patient reasonably needs.

Really? hmm you learn new stuff all the time.
