Licensed RPN in Toronto and can't find a job :(

Hi all!I am originally from Iran, where I was an RN for 15 years...Then, I moved to Canada in 2009 and settled in NB, where I got licensed as an LPN and found full time work at a nursing home.NB wanted me to jump through too many hoops to get my RN license, so I decided to make a move to Toronto.I have been in Toronto for 1 year now, and already transferred my LPN / RPN license. I have sent out my CV to hundreds of places, but still cannot get one call for an interview.I am registered with 1 agency and usually get called a couple of times a week, but I cannot survive on working so little. Do any of you know any good agencies as well?Does anyone have any idea on how I can get into a nursing home or hospital full time?I will be writing my RN exam in May 2014, so for now I need RPN work.Happy new year!

RPNs are having it just as bad to the west of Hamilton (London, K+W, guelph, Cambridge etc...) and st joe's and HHS seem to list a constant stream of RN jobs admittedly i'm not looking to see if they are casual or permanent RPN jobs are listed less often and I would imagine that they like RN jobs go to internal candidates first. Nursing across all areas are hard to get, New grad positions tend to only get posted if they have someone lined up so its a con in my eyes. I wish you the best, i've only managed a casual job and even then they changed the contract on me from signing to finished orientation!

Nursing has been terrible for ON grads for 7 years. HFO has not been hiring grads since 2009. Very few got permanent positions when I graduated in 2010.

Seriously consider small towns for work. ON is not going to improve anytime soon.

What do you mean hfo has not been hiring new grads? I did the ngg program as an rpn and got hired after, as did many of my classmates (within the past year). We currently have 6 RN new grads on my floor through the program as well.

Let me clarify. In general, HFO has not been hiring new grads. Ontario promised 70 percent of new grads would be hired, and that number is not even close. Many of the grads who were hired with HFO did not have positions at the end.

You are one of the fortunate ones. I wonder if those 6 RNS will end up actually staying in the facility. In 2009 we were told not to expect that program to continue due to funding.

same boat here. Hundreds of resumes sent out and no calls from k-w, guelph, t.o. or hamilton.

Can you please tell me how to go about applying there for a job.

It is very difficult to find a job as a new graduate but something to keep in mind is that sometimes you apply and they don't call back until 2-3 months later! that has happened to me a few times

Tormok did you end up finding a job?

Hello, have you found a job already. I have been looking same as you for over a year now. It has been very frustrating
