Future for RN's in Ontario

Hi I just wanted to get some advice from Nurses and Nursing students.

I keep hearing that RN's are being replaced with RPN's

Of course when applying I applied for both Registered Nurse and Registered practical nurse programs so now I can't decide which route to go. I took the Pre-health science nursing course specifically for getting into RN now I worry that when I graduate there will be no jobs and i'm worried I should go the RPN route instead.

Which route is best? are they going to phase out the RN so there are no jobs for them in the future?

There will always be jobs for RNs, but many will be shifting away from the bedside due to the education being a four-year degree. RPNs will be moving into more acute care settings, however slowly it happens but it will continue happening.

It's usually a little easier to get an RN job in small towns/rural areas because those areas are less saturated with nurses, if you are willing to relocate (at least for a year or two at the beginning of your career).
