Are you allowed retaking same tests/assignments in nursing school?

I am a pre-nursing student and so far I finished Math and Chemistry. I am now working on Biology. In each course, if I needed to retake a test/assignment, they would always give me the same test/assignment to do. I am wondering if it is the same in actual nursing school?

No. If you fail dosage calculation you may get to retake it but it will more than likely be a different test. But I've NEVER heard of a nursing school allowing you to retake a test for any reason at all. For that matter, my school didn't allow that for pre-reqs either. If you're having a hard time with pre-reqs, you need to figure out how to study and pass the first time before you start nursing school.

The college I went to allowed a rewrite of some tests BUT from what I heard, it was a different test from the one you failed.

I do remember hearing from classmates that if you had "a track record" on re-writes you also got a one on one chat regarding study habits.

If a student has a learning disability and they disclose the information to the school early on, some type of accommodations can usually be made.

Thanks for the info. Whenever I failed a math test, I was given a completely different test to rewrite. But for the Chemistry tests, I was allowed to rewrite the same tests. And now I am taking biology and again I get to rewrite the same tests. So I was just curious if it's the same in nursing school. I guess every school is different though. Good thing is that I don't have a track record for re-writes, most of the time I did well enough the first time. :)

The program I as in allowed no rewrites of any sort except for dosage tests and even then you only got one extra chance. Assignments and other tests you wrote only once.

Thanks for the info. Are you allowed using a calculator when writing the dosage tests or not?

The only test we were allowed to retake was the sausage calculation test. Up to 3 times to make 90%. We were allowed to use calculators provided by the program. All other exams were one shot

Okay, thanks! So the dosage calculations include everything? Like Metric conversions, tablet dosage, fluid dosage and IV drop rates?

I don't remember using a calculator.

The formulas are taught in class, basic arithmetic really.

Think along the lines of the patient needs 60mg of Lasix, you only have 20 mg tablets available. How many tablets are required.
