I'm a Rpn student from Niagara region. In about 4 month I'll have to make a decision on where to consolidate. Out program has a high amount of students and it has been said by the faculty that some... Read More

That new grad initiative will slowly disappear for a while, I suspect. The government is not willing to fund the new grad initiative much longer, at least not until the economy really picks up, and who knows when that will be. Back in 2009 and 2010, it was the same. I knew of new grads who were hired into the initiative and then asked to take a casual position at the end of it because the facility couldn't keep them on full time. OP, you will need to be very flexible with respect to work and school.

Hamilton has many nursing programs, but also a ton of hospitals. Not sure about the job market but it's an awful city (pollution, traffic, one way streets, high homeless pop, crowded).
Although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I'd say I'm a little offended by this comment. I live in Hamilton and LOVE IT. Hamilton has all the things you mentioned, but it is also a great city with a lot to offer. There is a thriving arts community and a large amount of people who are committed to this city. Hamilton has the best community I've ever seen in any city. A world-renowned university, college, 100s of waterfalls, tons of trails and scenic areas...and as I said a thriving arts and local community. COME TO HAMILTON! Sorry, but I'm very passionate about my city and I love my city. Don't insult it based on what you've seen on the surface.

(I'm saying this lightheartedly...its just so many people insult Hamilton and attach this stigma to it when there are some amazing things going on here...many of which I'm a part of)

Haha, sorry I lived there for a very short period and visit often. And, sorry but I strongly dislike it. I think it's the traffic ( I end up in circles) and the pollution. It has the bones to be one of the most beautiful cites in Ontario with the mountin and water. I know there are nice views, trails and some beautiful neighborhoods. As well as a good hospital and university system. But for me the bad out weighs the good.

In the end all I care about is for me to have a job... Anything... You know. The bonus would be to find what I'd truly enjoy. I don't really care what city I live. I just want my hubby to find a job and I though that moving out of Niagara would be a smart move. He has two university degrees and no luck for him still. It's a shame. I thought of nipissing as its online and flexible. I could work and study 2 courses a semester which is very doable. I shall browse other option but since I have 68 in one of my classes I may not be able to apply everywhere. Despite my avarage 80+ , many schools wants each course not less than 70.

Haha, I guess I got a little defensive there. I just want everyone to see what I see in this city! My apologies!
