Nurses Job Hunt

Hello all,

I have a question that I'm hoping those employed could help me out with. I am a new grad nurse looking for my first job. I went on an interview and it went well. They said they would make their decision the following week. Well, the following week I got an email from an outside agency to run my background check. Check completed and I'm waiting to hear something, anything. Does the fact that they ran my background check mean I was chosen?

Every place is different, but when I was a hiring manager, we didn't run background checks unless we were interested in offering a position. I do recall one hospital calling & offering me a position "pending a background check" as well.

They are interested enough to at least move on to the next step.

Until you have a written agreement IN HAND. only then can you consider yourself hired.

Don't pass up any other opportunities to interview or stop your search.

The fact that they ran a background check in no way guarantees that you are getting a job offer. However, it is very encouraging.

Like amoLucia said, you don't have a job until you have a official offer in writing from their HR. So don't even think of putting the job hunt on pause while you wait.
