Does it help to apply online for Nursing job?

Hi!

I am new graduate without any Canadian experience. I just got my licence. Now I am looking for RPN job in Toronto. I have heard that, "you wouldn't be getting any job if you are applying online" but I have seen people who go in person and apply for job but even than they didn't got any response. I think the important part is, to call HR person to ensure your application review and I think reference is more important.

my questions are:

1. Is it ok to apply online?

2. How long I have to wait after job application to contact HR person?

3. Is it important to have a reference of a person working at the same place?

plz help me with my queries....

Some jobs only let you apply online and it's definitely legitimate. Most larger hospitals and nursing facilities will not take applications in person or by fax. You HAVE to register with their website and fill out an application from their website.

Other facilities or organizations may post within an online job website for nursing positions they have open and request that you either come in or fax your resume to them.

Sometimes the wait can be a few months. It just depends on how long that job posting is staying open for applications and how soon they are looking to fill the position.

Who you know where you are applying can definitely be a benefit but it is not necessary. If you have a reference within a company that is reputable I would definitely mention it.

Most facilities, especially larger ones, only allow you to apply online. They get so many applications that they can only accept them through the website and don't have time to follow up on each one.

Most of the time, when you call HR after applying online, they will tell you that they will contact you if they want an interview.

Understand that there are a lot of factors that go into choosing candidates for resumes. First, internal applicants who already work for the hospital are often given priority. Most online application systems automatically filter out applications based on answers to questions, such as experience or whether you have a current license.

It's definitely helpful to have a reference who works in the hospital. Anytime you know someone within the system that can help you get noticed, take advantage of it.

Here you go, it is a section here on All Nurses. Nursing Community / Nurses / Nursing Students the US most facilities are online applications only as HR is separate from the healthcare facility so failing to apply online would guarantee that you don't get hired
