Sometimes you must brave the cold. It all depends on how much you want the job. I am in Canada, and I moved to a small town where the winters are looong and cold like ND. I hate the cold. But guess what? It was totally worth it, because I'm getting great experience, and I'm making about 20 thousand more a year than if I would have stayed at home.

No offense but you are in Canada. I can imagine there are some places warmer then others but it is so far up north that I can't imagine it being too warm in any city.

I am in Puerto Rico and now in January I am chilled when the nights get down to 74 degrees. I am not complaining just saying I have to get a light sweater out. Even my native state, CA, has winters that are way too cold for me.

So one may really want a job yet weather is most certainly important for many people.

My point is, sometimes you just do what you have to do. Many people move to less than ideal locations for that first job.

I understand what you are trying to say but there are different types of "less than ideal locations" for different people. I would only move some place with sub zero temps as a very last resort. There are other "less than ideal locations" I would try first. I keep hearing the TX border towns are hiring and I would do that over ND in a heart beat.

I guess people stay away from those because of crime? Not sure, but I would take the crime over the freezing weather if I had to choose.

wow so many job postings for nurses!! thanks for posting the link op! :yeah:

There was a blizzard in Minot April 30. I hear it's a nice community but North Dakota winters are brutal.

I grew up in Syracuse, NY and we had a blizzard on Mother's Day one year that was so bad school ended up being canceled (and it has to be BAD for a snow day in that area). You just bundle up, stay inside, and learn to love winter sports like skiing or reading in front of a fire ;)

I found quite a few in very southern Arizona and very northern Arizona as well that are willing to hire new grad RNs.

Does anyone know of an agency that staffs ND? I have looked online and only find permanent hospital jobs. I called 3 agencies and they didn't have anything in ND. Im an ER nurse looking to travel up there.
