Welcome to the Forum - General Aussie Chat

World Australia

Published

Having been guilty myself of hijacking threads saying hello and just chatting to my fellow Aussies I thought it might be worthwhile for us to have a thread that is just dedicated to general Aussie chat. We can then discuss issues like the Morris - oops Davis inquiry in Queensland and what it will mean for Q health and for the rest of Australia.

We can talk cricket, sport and anything else that is just us.

Say hello to new members dropping by.

Generally find out what is happening in the rest of the country.

I will make this thread a "sticky" so that it will always be at the top of the forum.

pretty crazy times!

Hi guys, I am hoping somebody may be able to provide me with some info. I am currently studying nursing (mental health) at degree level in the UK and expect to qualify in September 2013. I am looking to the future, and would love to work and live in Australia, preferably Melbourne, if this was possible. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to get work as Mental health nurse in Melbourne, or anywhere else in Australia, without getting two years post qualification experience in the UK first? I would like to move to Australia around six months after qualifying.

I'm coming over to NSW in September for a year.... Who's down for tea and giving me the real digs on ED nursing in Oz, so I don't need to wear an adult diaper on my first day? :p

O my! I have just finished work and I feel that I have been run over by a tram! I cannot seem to shake this cold I have had for a few weeks - just a runny nose and sneezing. well after 7 days in a row I feel awful. Going to curl up with a box of tissues and sneeze my way to sleep.

Come on Spring I have had enough of winter...............and tomorrow is forecast for 12 degrees!

Hey I'm thinking about doing a year or so of nursing in Australia.. Just started researching requirements and such...

Me too, I'll be studying in Australia for my bridging program. Hopefully, I could make friends here because I'll be going there alone.

Hey- In my opinion (I graduated 5 years ago and am currently doing postgrad at UTS) the cream-of-the-crop/most respected schools (currently) are UTS and Notre Dame. In my practice now, when working with students, Notre Dame seem to be great.

Not to say Usyd is bad, they are traditionally more focussed on Med rather than Nursing.

Hope this helps.
