Australia versus New Zealand

World Australia

so it seems like working in New Zealand as a nurse is much lower pay and lower standard of living than being a nurse in Australia or Canada.

So why would you (in my case) immigrate to New Zealand to study nursing there, get in debt, and work there oppose to doing so in Australia?

I love the weather, environment, and the idea of living in New Zealand but I am having second thoughts about it, realizing that I may be living in a poor standard of living trying to make it as a nurse and pay off school debt... Would I be better of immigrating to Australia and try to be a nurse there?

I love nursing and I wouldn't mind getting paid less to do so... but I am in dire need of money so I have to look at the financial aspect :(

plus what are my chances of getting hired after graduating from a NZ university in nursing and getting a job right away? Or getting a visa change from international student to working visa... is it fairly easy? possibly easier than Australia or Canada?

police report would be from Korea...

overstaying visa is not a crime but a civil disobedience, not in the criminal record unless I get deported.

I have cleared it with a lawyer, my overstayed visa presence here does not affect immigrating to another country since I am applying from Korea not U.S. I would have to go back to Korea first then apply to another country, my status in U.S. has nothing to do with it. This is a fact...

it's a different country... overstaying a visa isn't an issue to another country... especially in my case when I GREW UP HERE. Don't you get it? I grew up here since I was sixth grade? I could be your classmate, your next door neighbor, your childhood friend and you would never even know it! Shoot, most of us didn't even know we were "illegal" till our parents told us when we turned 18. It's not even our fault... have some mercy people. By a stroke of luck you could be in my shoes, just because of the parents that you have. I have a flipping 3.9 gpa in my college and worked my butt off and I work and PAY TAXES. I worked harder than any of my friends just to be where I am today, wiping tables at restaurants and studying all day and night for nursing school. You could have been in my shoes... if you just happened to be born to a wrong parents... would you have gone back and left the country that you grew up in and called "home?" Gone back to what? Country you haven't been in for a decade since you were a child and have no future in? Haha... go back... easy for you to say...

It is lucky enough for an illegal to get education in here already( especially in state tuition). Anyway you will need valid SSN in order to work here. You can waste your time and wait for the congress to pass the dream bill for you. But it is not going to happen soon or forever; otherwise you will see many people from mexico try to cross the border and hope some day that they can become legal.

Also in order to apply to any universities outside California, you will be asked to provide proof of valid visa or green card if you are not US citizen.

Find some US citizen to marry you!! You will get work permit within 5 months after you file the marriage paper.

You grew up here; however, without valid status, you are not belong here.

Hey get your education, learn as much as possible, I know without a valid Social Sec number and FBI screening, and valid workpermit, you won't be able to work as a nurse, but you can get a degree and knowledge necessary for your future and other opportunities will come, have faith, study nursing hard, here colleges in California are very affordable, I also did this route, and it worked well. If you have ADN degree, certifications, you might be able to get a residence job in Australia for new grads, OZ is an amazing place, more opportunities for nurses, Canada is also another choice, Right now, I think Canada requires nurses to have at least a BSN bachelors degree, Yes, it is hard growing up in place since 6th grade, all your life was spent in the U.S, don't get in trouble, study, because nurses are needed everywhere, get your degree , education then later you ll sort it out, attend nursing conferences, etc.. There is a lot of info online about nursing in other countries, I hope that everything goes well for you.

This is harsh, come on cut the BS ok, this person has a problem, grew up in a country all his or her life without even knowing or crossing deserts, or knowing that they are not legals, it is a very tricky situation , and I know that it happens quite a bit with some kids and teenagers completely immersed in the American society with enormous potential to achieve great goals, botton line is these situations will be dealt very differently than those that do not have anything to contribute to the country or development such as education, skills, moral values and sense of commitment to the United States, They will pass an immigration reform to get the ones that can add sth valuable to the nation, that is certain to happen. Now for the ones that don't have skills or nothing valuable it does not matter where they come from, they will be worthless for the development of a country.

Just a quick note to say it is illegal to get married just for a GC and stay in the US. If caught can get done for fraud and a ban from the US from 3 years to life.

Please only get married because it is what you really want to do. Please respect marriage

absolutely... I am a Christian, sanctity of marriage means a lot to me.

As far as the education goes, it looks like I am going to try to continue my education in California by doing a bridge program from my community college to a BSN program. After I graduate with a BSN and no immigration law has passed, I will have to go to Korea and be a medic or a nurse in the Korean army (they have mandatory conscription). It shouldn't be too hard to find a job once I am out of the army since I have a BSN and I am fluent in English. I just have to get better at Korean and try to pass the Korean NCLEX or their equivalent test form. Apparently medical tourism is the new thing in Korea and a lot of Japanese, Chinese, and Americans are going to Korea for surgeries, especially dental and plastic surgery. The demand for a nurse who's fluent in English should be pretty high. Hopefully that will workout and I will get some experience as a nurse. At that point I can either continue being a nurse in Korea or try to immigrate to another English speaking country like Australia or New Zealand. Canada is kinda cold for a Californian like me lol. Maybe I can even work for an American medical company selling medical equipments in Korea since they prefer RNs as their sales rep and maybe because I happen to be Korean, fluent, and educated RN from the states, I can have some advantages as a sales rep for their company. Who knows, I will keep praying and see where God leads me.
