NP gave meds to her married boyfriend

I found a bottle of antibiotics in my husband's book bag. The prescriber was his mistress a NP(she knows he is married and they have been seeing each since 2012, he would always say it was over but evidence would pop up indicating otherwise, she even bought him a jeep then went to my parent's house requesting it back after he told her he wasn't leaving his wife).

I called the pharmacy and the automated system stated the script was written to someone with her last name. My ex husband stated his friend had an infection but did not have insurance so he asked his mistress to write a prescription. I told him that I threw out the medication. I left my husband and reported this NP to the NY State Education Department Office of Professional Discipline, and I sent the meds to the investigator handling the case. The investigator stated she cannot give me the status nor the results from the case.

My question is besides possibly losing her license, what are the other repercussions this NP can face?

That would be a question for the State Board of Nursing. I would say you have done enough.

This affair has gone on since 2012??? What the hell? Why are you still involved? MOVE ON.

Hello and good day SmilingBluEyes, I stated in my post that I left him. I guess to be more specific; I left him last year. Therefore we are not involved. I have indeed moved on from him. This disciplinary case is still under investigation and that is why I posed my question. Thanks

The best revenge? Move on and live a happy life . I don't think she will get In trouble ........ What sin did she really commit? And for the record your husband doesn't sound like much of a catch. I feel for both of you ladies...

Ps .... Are you sure that abx wasn't for your husband...... Maybe he didn't want you to know he had an STD?

Hi Evolvingrn, he is no longer my husband. I know for sure he is not a "catch", that is why I LEFT HIM last year. I have no idea who or what the antibiotics were truly for. Thank God my tests are negative. OMG these responses are becoming more about the soap opera than the question. I only posted the back end information because I knew everyone would come for me and say that I should just leave him and leave the NP alone. Enjoy your day.

You didn't answer the question what did she do wrong that you reported it to the board?

Because you posted the "soap opera" information,Ike how he came back for her keep that she gave him...

You stayed he was "my husband" and put everything out there...

Plus, based on how you framed everything, I couldn't make sense (until the end) whether you were still with him or not either; plus what was the most that this NP did wrong-besides what your ex said; even though you didn't state whether the medicine was for him or his "friend"; clear information on what the issue would've been helpful.

Unfortunately, no matter how you post, the thread is going to take a life on its own.

She wrote the prescription to someone with her last name and gave the meds to my ex husband. I stated in my original post that I called the pharmacy and the automated system stated the meds were for somone with her last name.

As far as I know healthcare professionals are not supposed to write prescriptions for themselves and give the medication to other people, nor write scripts for people they are not treating. This is what she did wrong. Correct me if I am wrong.

You left a year ago. This should not be your problem any longer. Move on with your life. Let karma take care of this if she indeed did this.

Is her name common? There's too many variables...even though you've already addressed that the explanation by your ex...

The thing is, you already reported it-at this point they can't divulge anything else and it's out of your hands.

The best thing is to move on.
