Ok people, rant time. So I applied to a facility in Dallas, gave them my whole story, told them I'm looking to relocate because of family being in Dallas/Denton/Fort Worth. Interview goes great, ADON introduces me to everyone (staff that was there). We go to HR, they do the drug test, do all the I-9 stuff, blood work etc. The ADON tells me to submit my 2 week notice (which I did) and she will call me back within 3 days with the start date because the background check takes 48 hrs. She contacts my then employer and off course gets nothing but positive remarks. 3 days go by and nothing, so I call her work phone - goes to VM and she doesn't reply. 4,5,6,7 days still nothing. Called HR and they tell me they didn't receive the paperwork that the DON or ADON signed showing that I'm they're ok with me working here and there's nothing the can do so I need to call/talk to the ADON. I call her cell and she picks up then hangs up and doesn't pick up or reply text messages which show they've been received and read.

So here I am again, back at the beginning. Back at looking for a job, any job. Just who the * does that. I don't get it. If you don't want to offer someone a job then don't do it. I mean really???

I've had stuff like that happen. Just recently had a great interview, was invited to shadow, that went great, called the DON the following Monday to let her know things went well. Was told HR would be in touch.....then nothing..... They knew about the contract, we had discussed it in the interview before the invite to shadow was extended.

Also had an interview at an LTC that was the same thing...just about flipped the desk over with a job offer (not quite as far in the process as yours) then when I physically went by the following week to ask why no one from HR had returned my calls acted like I was from Saturn. Made me feel like a fool. WTH.

What is wrong with people? This bit about telling you to give notice at your current job then discarding you like trash? That's just wrong. Is your current job going to let you retract your notice?

Catsmeow, I drove 200+ miles (one way from Houston to Dallas) twice for this job, and I laid it out in front of them, we went over all the stipulations and she was fine with it. I had a job that she told me to quit, now I don't have one. As far as going back there personally, I've thought about it but in this political or whatever climate you call it, I see myself being arrested for intimidation or whatever and I already have enough on my plate as it is. I just can't believe I'm back to being jobless. I'm back to begging for a job. I had about 40 interviews before landing the job that I had.

I'm in the process of trying to get back but it's even harder for me to get back in as a former employee, they know I want to leave or will leave them, it's hard to go back because another company rejected you. And they have a 6 month rule before rehiring meaning I can't work for them or their affiliates for 6 months. I left my PTO, benefits, everything, I just feel like a fool this point. I just sat on the couch all of last night, didn't even fall asleep, just sat there for 10+ hours. I'm hoping this is a dream and I wake up soon.

That bites. Stupid stuff like this is only one of the many reasons I have for purposely sitting out of nursing until the end of the contract. I just can't take that much rejection. I don't know how much longer you've got to go until you are done, but is sitting out a financially viable option?

If it were me, I would give them a bad review online somewhere about this. You were honest about your contract, so in the review I wouldn't mention anything about your contract. That should spook future prospective employees. I don't know if they're on Glassdoor or whatnot. Or you could still mention it on yelp or something. Just say you were hired and told to quit your job and now they won't even answer your messages. Maybe it's not the right thing to do but it's what I would do. I know it doesn't help your situation though. Just keep trying to get your old job back.

What do you mean by sitting out? My stipulations state I have to be supervised and drug test for 3 years. If I sit home then whenever I go back to work then it starts from where I left. I know people who have been on probation for 5 years now. It just sucks on a level that I can't even comprehend. I'm in Texas though so idk if rules are different in your state

I'll do that but in the meantime I'm back to begging. That's what hurting. I remember going on interviews and telling them I'd take LVN pay working as an RN just to get this thing over and done with.

I was thinking move states....I'm in Flori-duh. We're just as draconian as Texas but I'd be afraid they slam you with 5 yrs instead of 3. I have no idea if they credit for time served on another state's contract (I highly doubt it, it'd be too forgiving).

I've worked long enough to be through the work supervision time so all I'm doing is counting days and P tests. I still have to disclose the contract to the employer though hence not being interested in a 3 way with me, a job and the program.

I certainly understand your frustration. Unfortunately, the practices of the ADON most likely results in an unhealthy work environment. Good luck with continued job search.

What??? That's awful! I would go by there and ask to speak to the DON/ADON in person if she didn't return my calls/texts.

Wish you the best!

I am so sorry!!! This profession has some of the best and some of the very worst people I've met. Putting you in that position is unconscionable. I'd like to say something about Karma but that's BS. I wish that if a nurse was accepted into these programs that part of the deal was complete anonymity so long as you jumped through all the many hoops and jobs were approved but its not. Truly best wishes from a guy that recognizes that we are all in this same pile of **** together
