Positive urine screen and involved with VRP

  1. 0 I was contacted by PNAP case manager that my urine came back positive. Problem is, she can't tell me what for. I was told that I will receive a letter from VRP asking everything that Ive been in contact with and have ingested. I haven't relapsed and I am stunned. Has anyone been through this before and what happened?

I feel your pain. I too was notified last week that I was positive on drug screen for ETOH. Haven't drank in 3 years. I was in shock. I think I used hand sanitizer the day before my test. Never thought it would show up using it 2 or 3 times. I hope everything works out for you..same here. Good luck!

What are you doing about the positive and what is VRP?

They retested 2nd specimen for ETG..came back negative. I guess I'm in the clear. Not sure though..the BON hasn't seen it yet. Sure they will have something to say about it!

I personally think that is a violation of HIPAA for you to disclose everything you are on. It should only be relevant medications consistent with the class of drugs that they claim you tested positive for.

You have a right to privacy...drug testing program or not. For example, let's say you were taking acyclovir for herpes...I don't think you want that on record anywhere.

Obviously, standard drug testing doesn't test for drugs like that....which is exactly why I would object to the "whole list".

I requested the split urine to be retested, at my expense. I hope to hear something within a week. As far as HIPPA, I DONT AGREE with the entire list either but I will do just about anything they advise me to do. Funny thing is, I have a precription for Valtrex. I had to take it when I waz in maternity and delivery to help reduce the the hance of getting a cold sore while on that clinical. Recently, I was sick, I took mucinex, Bactrim DS and the valtrex. I can sometime get a cold sore after being sick. They ask foryou an entire list to dtermine if one of the things you consumed could cause a positive screen. ! Also, I took ranitidine, pepto and tums. Hand sanitizers may be an issue also. I live in PA and they wont tell you what you came up positive for. Now, that isnt right. Congrats to the post about being cleared of the etg screen.

I had a urine screen show positive for benzos. The only thing I take is omeprazole. Go figure. I hope you get it worked out.

@ Jory- as was already stated- they ask for a list in case anything you take might cause a false positive. & those of us who are in monitoring programs, or have been in, have subjected ourselves to all sorts of things you would find objectionable & degrading- but it's what we have to do. & we got ourselves into this situation- something else you have proven in previous posts you don't understand.

people who do not or have never walked in our shoes, or have a spouse , etc who has done so- have a VERY hard time really grasping this whole deal. exactly why i recently asked for responses only from those of us in this boat!! some people try to get it- they just don't!

Lets keep to the topic. The OP did ask for those who have experience with this situation to answer as to how it was handled. Please, if have nothing contributory, bypass those threads.
