Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS

World Registration

Published

Visa Screen Certificate is required by all foreign nurses wishing to obtain a green card to work in the US, as well as any type of temporary work permit, such as the Nafta TN Visa for those from Canada and Mexico.

It requires that you pass either the NCLEX-RN or the CGFNS exam, as well as the series of English exams if you are not exempt from them.

The CGFNS exam is only required now in about five states, and rumor is that one or two will be removed from that remaining list as well. Do not bother with that exam if you are not going to work in a state that does not require it, or you have no way to be able to take the NCLEX exam from where you are currently located.

The application for the VSC is now only good for one year.........please do not apply for it until you have passed at least one of the required exams, or you may need to pay an additional fee.

what form are you referring to?

and its asking for a grade?

the validation of transcrift were the registrar write the your grades in suject like arts, english, ecomomics, foreign language etc.

the registrar should do that for you, you don't have to write anything, except for the part that specifically says for applicant.

if your school processed CGFNS application before, they should be able to handle your papers.

HI! can I clarify if I could put 2 years work experience in the visa screening form even if most of my experience came from being a volunteer nurse? and in the field that says proffesion specialty do I need to put hemodialysis nurse or nurse alone? Thank you for spending the time reading my question

CGFNS ICHP number is something you will be issued with once you make an application for CVS/CES or VSC if you do not know it leave it blank

Thank you for the quick reply. I apologive if I'm asking the same question again but is volunteer experience counted in work experience? As I'm aware it is counted for certain counries like nz, uk and america. I just want to make sure

Good day. Im from the Philippines and Im currently waiting for the NLE results this August. I just want to know if CGFNS would still be advisable to take since im planning to use it to get a VisaScreen? Though I know that the New Jersey BON does not require it anymore. As I said, Im only after the VisaScreen. And as soon as Im in New Jersey, I'd take their NCLEX. And then, process a CES. Would that be just fine? Thank you very much.

I would say just go ahead with NCLEX as that is also accepted for visa screen certificate. With retrogression unless you have a different type of visa allowing you to live and work you have plenty of time to prepare

But isnt it that if you don't have a SSN they wont send you your license even if you pass their NCLEX? It's kind of impossible to get one especially if you're from the Philippines. So, if I wont have my license, I cant get a VisaScreen. Please correct me if Im wrong. Also the CGFNS doesnt require a SSN or even A Criminal History Background, which is also a hard thing to get/do, so I thought it's much practical to just go with the CGFNS.. And I checked their site, I think they dont honor NCLEX from New Jersey? Thank you very much for the quick reply :)

Not all states require a SSN to issue a license and you do not need a license for visa screen just confirmation you have passed NCLEX

What do you mean they do not honour NCLEX from New Jersey, NCLEX is a national exam. Can you provide the link to this?
