Greetings!

A Filipino nurse wants to retake NCLEX Ca and have no SSN and wants to apply ITIN in exchange to SSN in order to accomplished the NCLEX repeat application form and also A Non-US based....for your guidance and inputs.....

A Filipino nurse here seeking advise, I took NCLEX CA last 2009 and I failed, this year 2016 I'm planning to retake the exam but I want to know if I can take the NCLEX Ca again with just using ITIN from IRS in compliance to the application form requirements?

And also, can anyone share or advice how to get ITIN from IRS whose applicant is a Non-US based foreign nurse like me in Philippines? Have anyone done this? How long would it take to get? Is it legal to get ITIN even I am not a US based/citizen?

can anyone share the same story and how did they accomplished the NCLEX CA with the same circumstances?

Regarding the NCLEX RN Ca what are the chance of taking the exam without SSN?

If the ITIN is not allowed can anyone give other option on how to take the NCLEX RN Ca and I would be happy if there could be a step by step or list of procedure in accomplishing the application form.

if there is no means to retake the NCLEX Ca without SSN? Can anyone suggest a state that would allow a NON US based/citizen to take NCLEX Rn without SSN?can you share a story how you accomplished with the same issues?

.……...........................

This is what I'm planning to do, for your comments or suggestions.....

You cannot obtain an ITIN while overseas. You need to have a reason to pay taxes to the US treasury/IRS.

Had you been eligible you could have applied with an ITIN. But without a valid ITIN or SSN you are automatically ineligible to apply for a nursing license in CA and several other states.

Technically per federal mandate only citizens , legal residents and those with a valid work visa are eligible for a professional license in the US. Not all states have implemented the requirement

Assuming you are able to obtain the ITIN, the other main concern is now if you'll meet the concurrency requirements of the CA BRN.

Being granted the ATT prior to Nov., 2011, will not make you eligible with the enforcement of the concurrency rules for any future consideration. Everyone now applying since the Nov. 2011 enforcement period will have to pass thru the same requirements that's been preventing thousands upon thousands yearly trying to either get the ATT for the first-time or second or third or whatever time or via the endorsement process to move their out of state license to CA.

If, however, your graduation date was prior to 2004-2005, then most PH applicants are able to get the ATT or their license endorsed without too much problems.

If you did not make it in that time frame and you know for sure that you did your cases and classroom not in the same exact semester, but before or after, then, your application would be declined and will have to either re-take the deficiency courses or in some cases, if there's too many deficiencies, then they will require the entire nursing program (this is due to too many missing or insufficient courses will be next to impossible to find a school and complete all of them within the 3 year limitation to finalize your requirements or the application goes into the abandonment pile along with your non refundable fees.

You can thank our previous PH nurses and students who were caught cheating the system via false documentations and misleading statements (some have gone to US jail for their greedy and selfish actions, thank God)) that has caused the CA BRN evaluation to look at each and every application coming in from the Phils with a microscope. It is not a brand new law or requirement, just the strict enforcement of the policy set forth in 1987.
