Ny nclex requirement for foreign graduate

World Registration

Published

hey guys! I recently graduated last April 2013 and I didn't take my PNLE because my mom told me they don't require it since I'm a green card holder but as I browse through the NY NCLEX website it is stated that I need THE CVS from CGFNS. As I checked the CGFNS website I'm not sure if I'm still required to have my local license.

Who is this service for?

The following health care professionals educated outside the United States who wish to practice in New York State:

As stated above it is for RN right? does it mean that I still have to take the local boards or not? and also I already applied online and there's a part for validation of license. Can I just skip this part sine I don't have one?

I'm still in the Philippines right now and planning to fly to NY this June. What are the documents I might be needing?

If you read the requirements on the NYSED website, the CGFNS has a New York specific credentialing service and it is called the CVS. If you have made an account with CGFNS already, you can select the CVS program and proceed.

thanks flamingwall flower! second question, do i send nclex application form first or do the CGFNS requirements? which comes first? the only reason i ask is because i was told by a colleague to send nclex app form first because it takes a long time to process hmmm i want to make sure im doing the right thing :D thanks again

CVS takes approx 6-8 months so get that done first and then when completed send NY application. Remember you are not applying for NCLEX but to be a registered nurse in a state. NCLEX is just part of that process

Hello I want to look into NY requirements for NCLEX witrh International Students but... I am lost on their website. Does someone here know the link to the international students part for NCLEX in the NY BON website? Thanks.

Starting point is CVS with CGFNS and then look at NY BON website or check out the few threads discussing this

Hello Silverdragon!

I've been reading the thread regarding how to take the nclex in NY for foreign graduates. Just to give u a brief background about me, I am fr the Philippines i moved here in the US March 2014 thru my fiance's petition (which is now my husband). I just don't want to waste time while waiting for my green card which we expect to arrived in march 2015. I am hoping to take the exam as soon as possible. i created a profile in CGFNS already and one more step to order my CVS that cost $390. Am I doing it right? I am aware about no refund so i am extra careful. If I will do the order of CVS what is the next step and what should I do after that?

Please help. Appreciate it a lot.

Thank you in advance.

hi, i`m currently in the process of submitting my application for ny state and i understand i needed to choose CVS, while doing the application it says to put license number, can i skip this question and click on next?

Hi I just graduated this May 2016, I am going back to NY on January next year and I am planning on doing the CVS. I didn't take the PNLE since I'm already an immigrant and my mom says I don't need to be a local board passer. Please guide me on the steps how to apply for the NCLEX and all, thank you guys.

Just read NY state Bon website. Everything is there. Just be aware cvs can take up to 6-8 months

I'm a lil bit confused. Do I have to be a board passer here in the Philippines or it's okay if I don't tale the board? Thank you. (Sorry for asking again and again.)

Hi please help me... I checked online and I saw that the no.1 question in the application form is asking about the profession? (RN, practical nurse, etc) What box should I choose? I graduated BSN last May 2016 but i never took NLE. Will this be a problem? Please share your experiences. THANK YOU!
