NNAS experience?

Does anybody have any experience with NNAS? So far, I've read the site but it would be great to hear from people who have gone through the process :)

It's just brutal because I completed a 4 year BScN in the US, and I've passed the NCLEX, and they still won't give me my license here.

tamiko and rashu since your education was found not comparable to a Canadian BSN, have either of you considered having your education evaluated for equivalency to a Canadian PN?

I haven't so far. I recently got advisory report and I am really devastated at the moment. I had worked so hard for my nursing degree in United States and for some reason they said it is "non comparable". Also I have already passed nclex exam. I never imagined my advisory report will reflect such result. It looks United States university are not good enough for NNAS:(

@rashu, it's not that a US education is not good enough but that it doesn't include the same content as a Canadian degree, such as the Canadian healthcare system, resource allocation, population health and health promotion.

I don't actually think that learning about the healthcare system is relevant to being competent enough to provide nursing care.

I just accepted a job in the US to keep my "safe practice" up to date. It's very important to keep that because you will need to repeat school. To keep your safe practice current you have to have worked as an RN in the last three years or graduated from nursing school.

Did you submit your NNAS report to the board yet?

I have just started the NNAS process and I am beyond annoyed. As a Canadian with a US nursing degree, I would really like to know why I am communicating with a company in Philadelphia and paying them in US dollars? And furthermore, the NCLEX is now the national nursing exam in Canada. Why do I have to go through this nonsense when I already passed the exam here? Nurses who are educated and licensed by exam in the US should not have to go through this process. And all I'm hearing about is the nursing shortage crisis......ridiculous!

The entire system is flawed and ridiculously slow. Whoever thought that letting an office from Philadelphia handle the nursing application of a person in Alberta is good idea needs to try the process himself. It's bad enough that we have to deal with the money-grabbing scheme of IELTS and now this? It's like they don't even want people to practice nursing here.
