NCLEX CA ISSUE

World Registration

Published

Hello everyone. I am reading the threads about the CA NCLEX and all were talking about the concurrency issue. Anyone from here who is a philippine nursing graduate who made it to NCLEX RN exam at the year 2013 onwards?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Welcome to the site

Moved to the Nurse Registration forum

There hasn't been any recent ones getting the ATT in CA, those graduating last year (2014) are still not meeting the concurrency rules and that includes all those under the revised 3-3-3 cases.

But if CA is your primary goal, you might as well apply anyways and take the chance with the non-refundable application fees and prepare to wait for months to get an answer then prepare again to submit further documentation from your school.

If you do get denied, you can apply for the appeals process if done so within one year from their decision letter. You will need to present a very strong case on why you do meet the concurrency rules and should be granted the ATT.

The proof of the burden will be your responsibility to provide written evidence.

Hello steppbay

do you know if LVN Board doesn't accept RN foreign graduates for the concurrency?

I hope that At least LVN Board Will accept me

I'm worried

As far as the BVNPT goes, they currently do NOT enforce the concurrency rule (and it's clearly stated on their website as the last item mention of that). But that could change at any time, any day, if they so wish.

I'm sure they are seeing a high influx of denied applicants from other countries (mostly from the PH) and it's a great income revenue from the 1,000's applying from the CA BRN that were rejected.

So you'll have to wait till the BVNPT makes their decision on your transcripts. It could be not so much the concurrency issue but could be other things like certain minimum courses not taken or lacking hours or everything will in be order and you'll get the approval!

Thank you very much for Your answer

It doesn't matter which state accepts foreign grads easier.

What really matters is what state do you plan to begin to find a job the minute you pass the NCLEX?

The state where you plan to work for a few years, to raise or start a family, to start planting your roots is what matters.

That's the state that you simply need to stay focused on because it makes no sense in terms of saving money and time in getting the ATT or endorsement if the "easiest" state is not where you wish to work and practice in or can't get approved in due to not meeting the minimum requirements of the desired state.

Why?

Because you're simply going to have to meet the real desired state's nursing requirements even by endorsement (transfer if you will), so if you're willing to get a license in one state, then you'll have to re-pay new non-refundable applications, possibly pay for the English proficiency exams and possibly pay for the evaluation review of your transcripts. This all takes extra money and wasted times (months) for something that could have been avoided in the first place with no guarantees of getting approved with the real desired state.

It's better to get denied from the real desired state first, then, look for another state that your transcripts and other requirements can be met. At least you'll know from the beginning you did try and it didn't work out for whatever reasons, then to assume that once you get a license from another state that it's an "automatic pass" to the real desired state.

This will help from getting all your hopes up, to find a job in the desired state, but it's not going to happen.

It's better to find out early that the desired state wasn't meant to be and now you can concentrate on the new state that will accept your credentials and can move on from there.

If by a good chance, you did somehow get accepted in the real desired state, pass the NCLEX (hopefully the first time, to prevent from possible rejection upon the re-application process with the reviews), then, no need to worry about the other state.

Good luck!

Thank you for Your answer, you are very courteous :)

I understand Your reasoning, but i like all USA and i would like to live in every State indifferently!

I have started to Apply in CA because i and my wife work in a italian restaurant in San Diego and because CA Board doesn't require TOEFL (now i am studying english)

I am very grateful to USA because i am Green card holder, but now My american dream is becoming an american nurse, i don't matter wich state, each state is Perfect for me

If you know with state accept foreign graduates easier, i would be happy and glad to hear :)

Stay with the CA application and hope for the best.

Wait till there's a decision made.

All 50 states will accept foreign grads, it's just a matter of whether or not, you meet their requirements. There might be a couple of states that don't have a special section or application form for international students but it's there, you just need to inquire directly with those states, but it doesn't mean they don't accept applications.

If it's not a state you're interested in, no problem, there's 47-48 other states to pick from.

Guys! I just talked to someone who recently passed his NCLEX-RN in CA. New grad from Philippines 2014. I will call the bon ca and ask about it. It's so unfair that they allowed him and not us. Will update you soon!
