Hi everybody, I recently finished Nursing school in the Philippines and I'm seeking licensure in California. I shouldn't say that I graduated because I am missing approximately 200 hours in clinical experience in the mental hospital setting. My question is would I be able to finish my clinical experience at an accredited nursing institution in California and then apply for the board exam or would I have to finish in the Philippines? Other than the missing hours I mentioned I finished all the requirements for a bachelors degree in nursing for that country. Thanks, any advice would be appreciated

Hi everybody, I recently moved back to California after attending a nursing school in the Philippines. In my third year I took the NCM PSYCH lecture nursing class only. They did not give our batch the clinical portion of the class because the school closed due to low enrollment after that semester. I ended up transferring to another college and I completed my last year with no problems. I was supposed to finish the PSYCH clinical in the summer semester but I couldn't continue due to financial reasons and I had to return to California. I was hoping to finish the clinical hours needed or take the lecture portion over again at a school in California. My question is would I have to have my credentials evaluated by CGFNS first in order to submit that to the school of my choice or would I have to submit my official Philippine transcripts to the school directly. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You would need to do both clinical and theory together as CA requires them to be done at the same time. I would suggest getting CGFNS done and let the BRN decide if anything else is required and then you can get everything done together instead of doing course and find something else is required

well.

If you did not sign up for CA RN. You should apply for it right now.

I just got my CA license. They work so slow.

And in 2016. they require international student get all 4 parts of TOEFL at least 26 point.

I don't know Philippine students will be request for TOEFL or not.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice...it's much appreciated
