Filipino RN to California RN

hi guys! I am a foreign graduate and an RN from the Philippines, I migrated here in California last April 27, 2014 and was planning to take NCLEX RN. I graduated 2 years ago and I was hoping that you could give me some information regarding application and requirements on taking NCLEX RN. I was wondering where will I send my credentials for them to evaluate whether it is incomplete, concurrent or what? do I need to pay the fee for the application right away?

please help me...:nailbiting:

hi,., first welcome to the US kabayan!! :D hmm,., try to call the BON in CALI and ask them about the requirements,. cause it varies per state,., i believe cali don't require CGFNS evaluation which my state does,. and as of now,. filipinos applying in CALI are having a hard time getting their test permits in that state due to that above mentioned issues like concurrency,., supposedly i'll be applying with BON CALI but i don't want to wait for long period of time like some of my friends did, that some of them until now are still in pending cases,., so i just applied in the other state (BON HI) for me., and it didn't took me long enough to sit before nclex.. passed mine last march of this year,. so in due time i might just apply for reciprocity in CALI..

Here's why unless you know for 101% for sure that you'll pass the CA BRN you may face what has recently happened to a PH nurse, who as a working RN in another state endorsed (reciprocity) into CA received the CA license certificate/card, got a CA job, only to be asked to RETURN the license back and I highly suspect it was due to further review of the transcript (concurrency issue) and a clerk error. There's no use in wasting time to call the CA BRN about your own particular situation as you'll be simply asked to submit your application as there's no crystal ball for any one and as such, it's all on a case-by-case basis. There have been a few posters here who did manage to get CA license (grads before 2005), but also know any and all fees submitted to the CA BRN is not refundable, whether your application is approved or declined for whatever reasons.

With the high likely rate (99.9%) that your transcripts will be deemed "deficient", you'll all need to comply with re-taking those certain courses to get licensed in CA.

Hi! steppybay is correct, I arrived April 13 naman, and we're more or less in the same situation, except I graduated in 2008. For me, it was a matter of prioritization --- stay in California or get an RN job. I decided to apply for eligibility in another state after getting in contact with hospitals who are willing to interview me based on my credentials (the only thing I have to do now is pass the NCLEX). I have experience and was told it does qualify even if it was outside the US, but again, it's in another state (these hospitals mentioned they offer relocation assistance should I get hired). I didn't apply for eligibility in California because although I finished all my cases before the graduation date, I did 1 or 2 of my OR cases a semester after the lecture. I just wanted to go back to working in the hospital again so I'm not out of practice for too long and figured the best way to do that is leave California.

Still in CA but am applying for IL eligibility, and have lined up 2 other states for endorsement. I emailed the HR of all hospitals (in those 3 states) I could find that have postings for vacancies haha
