Eligibility Period To Take NCLEX

World Registration

Published

Hi, All. I received the Eligibility Notice for NCLEX-RN Examination dated August 8, 2006. Last paragraph of the notice says that file will become inactive and will be destroyed if:

  • You do not register with Pearson VUE within 2 years from the date of eligibility letter - So this means I only have 3 days left.
  • You do not test and the ATT expires within (2) years from the date of this eligibility letter - I am confused with this statement. Does this mean that I have to register and take the test within 2 years from the date of eligibility letter? Does this mean, I only have 3 days left to take the NCLEX? I have not registered yet but I plan to before August 8. But I need clarification on this because I am not prepared to take the exam. I do not want to waste money.

I was told that there is no more available slot until 2009 at Manila test center. So does it mean I have to take the NCLEX outside the Philippines?

Please enlighten me. Thank you very much

All eligibility letters have a expiry date, from the wording I would say your ATT will expire soon. Not sure why you have waited this long to sit the exam.

I think you will find there are dates for this year, plus if you keep a close watch dates are released when people cancel

You have to register before the 8th, but the state can destroy your file if they do not have the results in your file by the two years.

There are always dates available in Manila, there are always cancellations as well there. Most states have only a 90 day window for the ATT, so that means that dates further out than that are always available.

Depends on the state that you are writing the exam for, most have only a 90 day window as well for the ATT once issued.

If you are not ready and are not going to be ready very quickly, then just forfeit your fees paid to the state and start the process over again when you are closer to being ready. It is much cheaper to do it that way rather than waste the $350 cost of the exam and not pass.

Thank you for the response. I got pregnant then got busy juggling work and family that's why I was not able to register.

Suzanne, is there a way to know whether my files have been destroyed? Also, i plan to register today and hopefully get my ATT. I was told that ATT expires within a year from the date of issuance. Does this mean I have one year to review? I have applied at California state and intend to take the NCLEX here in Manila, Philippines.

Your response will be highly appreciated.

yes if your in california, your att expires in one year. you should take it in one year period and you cant extend it for any reason.

If the letter was dated two years ago, they do not have another year to write the NCLEX exam in as the file with the BRN will be destroyed if no test done within the two year period. That is where the problem is.

The application only stays open for two years, if not tested by then, then it is destroyed. Conversely, one has a year to test in to keep the ATT current, but that is separate from the application with the BRN.

Three years for an application is only when the nurse has passed the NCLEX and has no SSN#.

When you are talking of only a three day period before the two years is up, then getting an ATT now and testing before the two years time is up on the letter is going to be quite tough.

One does not get another year after the two years of the letter.

hi

I just want to make it clear. I applied for nclex in california state. As to my understanding, the eligibility letter of the california state is valid for 2 years right? And the ATT is only valid for one year. So, if my eligibility issuance date is august 25, 2008... It will expire on august 25, 2010. am i correct?

Used to be 5 years for New York. Suggest contacting them to be sure. ATT is I think valid for 90 days once issued
