Hi everybody

I am a danish registred nurse. My family and I are thinking about relocating to Florida and are now trying to figure out the best way to do this.

I have looked into the process of optaining licensens as a RN /LPN and have come to the conclusion that as a foreign educated nurse comming from a very different health care system than the US, I would maybe be better off with applying for Licence to LPN as a start.

Do any of you have experience with other foriegn trained nurses who have gone this way?

Thank you in advance

LPN will not meet visa requirements either H1b or immigrant.

Thanks for the answer and information!

I was not aware of the fact that LPN will not meet the VISA requirements...

It is a bit challenging to navigate in all the informations about VISA requirements, Validation of credentials, License and registration.

So what you say Silverdragon, is that in order to fit the requirements for a VISA eigther a H1b or a immigrant, I would have to apply as a registred nurse?

My reason for wanting to apply as a LPN is that I the last 7-8 years have been working part time as a nurse (12 hours a week) because of some practical cirkumstances. This way I do not feel completely up front with nursing practice and the thought of working as a RN in USA was a bit overwhelming for me, as there maybe is other rules, standards and rutines for RN in USA than in Denmark.

I will try to look more into the VISA requirements.

Thanks again

H1b requires RN with BSN or higher or at least 10 years experience. Immigrant requires RN but if trained in the US can apply as ADN

Is H1b the only way to for a foreign traind RN to get a working Visa in the US or is there any other ways?

H1b is the main work visa and unless not affected by the cap all have gone for this year
