CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

wooooooow!!! good for u nihaojailan...maybe its destiny.

sori can't pm since am new,im not from there but were near an hour drive.thnx anyway!!

Written recommendation from someone who is knowledgeable about the candidate3. Nursing entrance exam test4. Personal interview5. CPR/BLS6. Fire safety card7. Completed health insurance8. Malpractice insurance policy9. Criminal background10. Adequate transportation11. Current driver's license and auto insurance

what???? omg. I still have a long way to go then. I guess I just have to go back home to Australia. Geez, this is really ridiculous.

Im planning to take NCLEX at Cali but I haven't pass my application yet... I just want to know if I can take OB/MED-SURG in any school/ university in US or only approved schools/university by BON-CA for me to get an eligibility???

Me too! I haven't re apply yet but i kinda know that there's a possibility that i might get rejected, that's why I prepare myself on anything that the Ca BON might throw me whether yes/no... Same questions running thru my head, I got questions to everybody who encounter these concurrency issue and had been rejected by CA BON. Has anybody asked their respected licensing analyst if we can fly back to the Philippines and take whatever it is that they're asking us to take????? I mean I def think that our alma mater back in the Philippines will be more than willing than any other schools here to cater us in our needs. For sure our school is accredited that is why we get apply for nclex , But then there's this issue that they wanted us to fix so I wonder if I fly back and take it again the right way this time.. will they be satisfied and approve me?? since thats they're only problem with us right? Its the easiest most practical and affordable way that i can think of right now, if they agree on this we can all fly back and take it there within a semester since its just 2 or so major theoretical and clinicals.. these are my thoughts let me know if anyone had tried this. ty.

Hahahah! That was my plan before. I thought I was the only one planning to do that. But i didn't ask CA BON if doing it again in the phils will make us eligible. Please let me know about it. Thanks! :)

Hi guys! me too am thinking that way, better fly back to phils and get it done in 1 sem, rather than being stress here waiting, looking for schools, university to help us...pls let me know also..

CA BON requires that all the courses be completed prior to the graduation. They also require that the deficient courses be taken in CA, I'm sure CA BON already has lots of evidence of applicants submitting false documents and way too easy for so many desperate IEN's to simply "buy and submit" the paperwork that's so hanging up everyone.

A couple of my batchmates e-mailed their evalutors, same answer BUT not about the IEN's mailing in false documents, just the need to take the courses in CA and it's too late as the majority of us have graduated, but not too late for those still in school without their degree.

I got a job 5 mos after taking the exam (2011) , although, I have taken it for granted, jumping from one hospital to another, from dou to neurology and now emergency trauma full time, and part time aesthetic nurse. I have gotten a position in one of the "elite " hospitals in LA but dint like the environment so I left for my now position, not one of my proudest moments but it is what it is.

I didn't think of myself as "only" a foreign grad. It was an even playing field with free for all RN positions. I didn't know anyone in the system or anyone that can vouch for my capabilities as a nurse. I can proudly say that 90% of my interviews I was offered the position. An older friend who's a graduate from UST is now doing CRNA school after a year in ED.

so yes, with determination and confidence, it is possible. :nurse: I wasn't too ambitious gunning for critical care areas off the bat but I also didn't sell myself short

good luck everyone

Nice success story, congrats to you.....finally.....did you know if there are other international grads that have been hired also or most so of locals and other out of staters?

I think that to those who were lucky to passed nclex-rn b4 the c.cases requirements imposed are not subject to this issue when they renew there license, i know somebody that they renew there license recently and one is already a supervisor, were frm the same batch, same sch..

Wow, already a hospital supervisor, nice for sure!

There are a couple of CA schools that do meet the CA BON requirements, it's all posted in various threads, read and ye shall find.

The imformation is out there in these forums, it's up to those really wanting to go forward to call and get more direcrions and helps to have several $1,000 in your bank account for the expensive tuition fees ($7,000 up to $16,000) and books and supplies expenses. There are some other requirements that have to be met as well.

These are the private schools obviously. There are a couple of local community schools that's less $$ but it seems due to budget cuts, either not able to offer them at present or must be taken as part of the regular nursing program. If there were offered, it seems the maximum allotment was 1-2 international students, extreme competition as it's going to be between friends that gets the lucky spot.
