World Registration

Published

Hi

I am US citizen and a nursing student pursing my BSN program in Australia. i was married to an Australian and moved here. I am thinking of moving to California after finishing my Bachelor of nursing degree will my studies be equivalent of US. I also finished my Associate of applied science degree in Medical Assistant in state of MICHIGAN before moving to Australia. If any one could guide me through.

Thank you

Zoe

Australian degrees are deficient in maternity/obstetrics and sometimes pediatrics in comparison to US education. Australia, like the UK, uses midwives. There are few places to make up the deficiencies. It's always better to obtain your nursing education in the country where you wish to live and work. CA is especially picky when evaluating IEN credentials

Until you graduate and submit application to CA will you know if your training is accepted but be warned many nurses including those trained in the US are having difficulties with CA and registering. As mentioned you do need to make sure your transcripts cover both clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult.

thank you for your response, do you suggest any other state that is easier

All states require clinical & theory in adult, geriatric, pediatric, mental health and obstetrics
