Hi Rune. You help these international nurses get their working permits too?

They key phrases are "this summer" which is like four weeks away and "speak Norwegian" which isn't learnt overnight.

Nobody should build their dreams around this.

    Hello seaciel!

    here's my timeline:

Nov. 2010- sent all the documents to SAFH

Dec. 2010- 3rd week of December, I received a letter from SAFH informing me of the fee to be paid.

January 4, 2011- paid the fee.

April 2011- (2nd week, can't remember the specific date) received a letter informing me that they need a copy of my passport copy, certificate of employment and Board Certification from nursing to be certified by a lawyer (or notary public, educational institution, authorizing body or any person stated on their guidelines.) on each page. I sent a copy of it authenticated by DFA but, according to their guidelines, each page should be certified with an official seal and stamp. They gave me 3 months time to process the papers that they need. All those papers are due on or before July, 01, 2011.

Hope this one helps. Will update you soon. Godbless!

hi cyres. assistant nurse is helsefagarbeider, right?
have you tried applying as a hjelpepleier? nurses from the philippines are eligible to get the hjelpepleier autorisasjon. take note that au pairs has a different visa, they cannot work on the regular job markets in norway. i knew one, an au pair who did work on a hotel, paid taxes and such and the government learned about this and she was denied of an immigrant visa. she remained in the philippines. make sure your employer can support you on applying for a work permit.

    try www.xtra.no or adecco.no or www.nav.no
check the different kommunene for jobs..
    good luck!

HI ...thanks for the info guys regarding Nursing in Norway.

    I have a question...

Currently im studying norwegian language in a certain NORWEGIAN Language SCHOOL.
    1. Will Norway give credits to the number of hours i've spend studying norwegian bokmal here in the philippines?
    2. If somebody from Norway knows this... How is the availability of nursing jobs in norway? Are they really in need of nurses or caregivers? (its better to work as caregiver there than being a volunteer nurse here in the Philippines )
    3. I've heard about BERGENSTEST, it's like a norwegian language test which makes someone eligible to take the norwegian language class in norway for free... How true is this???
    4. What is the difference between Helsefagarbeider and Hjelpeleier???

Hope that somebody can shed light to my queries...
Ha en god dag alle sammen!

I am not sure with this since I took my free studies in Norway, but I guess as long as you can provide a proof that you successfully did the course AND with an interview it will be obvious if you are fluent enough. I'm not so sure how many hours of Norsk Course you need for immigration, that you have to check www.udi.no

    2. If somebody from Norway knows this... How is the availability of nursing jobs in norway? Are they really in need of nurses or caregivers? (its better to work as caregiver there than being a volunteer nurse here in the Philippines )

RNs: Its not as many as to compare with US or Canada. Competition is high esp to those who barely speak the language. Caregivers/Aupairs: you are tied up to 2 years contract, you cannot work for somebody else and the salary is not that enticing, but I think they are entitled to language courses to be payed by their employers.

    3. I've heard about BERGENSTEST, it's like a norwegian language test which makes someone eligible to take the norwegian language class in norway for free... How true is this???

I am also a RN from the Philippines and most RNs from the Philippines has to do a bridging course if they want to practice as an RN in Norway. For you to be able to enroll on that bridging course, you have to have that certification: Bergenstest. And Bergenstest has prerequisites. You have to Pass Norskkurs levels 1 and 2.

    4. What is the difference between Helsefagarbeider and Hjelpeleier???

The first one means Nurse Aid and latter is Auxillary Nurse or a LPN.
