Hello Ms. r.u.serius!

wow! that's great! third international license from another country, kickass!

I got a letter from safh and paid the required amount to be paid thru cc and waiting for another letter as i am told by my aunt.

Is it really that hard to learn their language? im having doubts to push thru with my plans of going to norway but as you know the nursing workforce in the philippines is tough. any info to share regarding norway and other stuff about their healthcare field? thanks! :nurse::):redpinkhe

Hi auspicious_princess. My email add: [email protected]

The language is very important, not only because of your assessment but most importantly to communicate with your patients and colleagues. Invest your time learning Norsk. Most definitely schools will teach you the Bokmål. You will learn "outside the school" the dialects. I am from Stavanger so I encountered so much Nynorsk-speaking people back there :jester: I learned Norsk in Stavanger, I came there on a family reunification with my Norwegian Samboer. It depends on what kind of immigration visa one have, to be able to benefit for a free language classes. I think if you arrived on a "job seekers/tourist visa.. you have to pay tuition for the classes. Have you tried to learn Norsk in the Philippines? :)

I'm reading some online nyorsk language courses but i can say that it's a hard. Haven't really gone to a Language center in the Philippines because it cost quite lot. I have a relative in Sandegt which i know is a province area in Norway. If you could, can you recommend any language school in Manila if you know one?

I am advised by Norway Embassy to apply for a Permanent Residence visa since they allow, nowadays, skilled person(s)/people to apply for that category and i already have the authorization from SAFH. I'm still blank about their healthcare workforce. Hope you don't mind me asking but what is usual the salary range for Norwegian Auxillary Nurses and Norwegian Registered General Nurse?

Hi again... I got this from a friend:

"Asian Center for Foreign Languages

1406-B West Tower, Philippine Stock Exchange Centre

Exchange Road, Ortigas Center

Pasig City, Metro Manila 1600

Philippines

Phone: (0632) 6330712 / 6877342

Fax: (0632) 6373384

Good luck.

Good that they change some rules on applying PR in Norway. But dont get your hopes up on being eligible to be a RN immediately when you arrive. You might be needing the language and 3 weeks university courses to upgrade your education, the exams are mostly about drug calculations and a "thesis" to submit. I also did 4 weeks praksis in a "Gamlehjem" and 4 weeks in psychiatry. Then when youre done with the praksis, you will be evaluated by the university (interview and case presentation) :p So apply for "Hjelpepleier autorisasjon" (Auxillary Nurse) if they havent changed the rules, you might just change your Phil. license to Hjelpepleier autorisasjon without any other requirement but the language :D

I just sent in my licensing paperwork a week ago on Jan 14, 2011. I am a new nurse just graduated from a BSN program in the US, should be interesting to see how much extra clinical time they require from me. I already know I need the 3 week course, but the other stuff is unknown at this time.

I know the language fluently, so that is not an issue for me.

Good luck everyone.

Hi Sunshinestudentt! Yeah, the other extra prerequisites are depending on individual assessment. I didnt have any experience working on a "home for the aged" (gamlehjem) thats why I needed 4 weeks praksis to get my license. Even Norwegians who did their BSN abroad (Australia, USA etc...) has to go through the 3 weeks university course. Good for you that you are fluent in Norsk :) as the language is the most difficult part to accomplish... Good luck to the rest applying :nurse:

Hi Marlon.

You really need to learn the language and for a start visit this site: http://www.safh.no . A Filipino agency was once been featured on the Nurses Magazine in Norway a few years back. It is an article about a Filipino nurse, who spent almost half a million pesos to migrate to Norway. Beware of this. Filing up the application, well you can basically do that on your own. Get a good language school to learn your Norsk Språk. Apply for a Job seekers visa/ Tourist visa at the Norwegian Embassy in Makati. Goodluck.

Good for you seaciel. Where are you heading in Norway. I also know one agency that helps Filipino nurses, they are based in Haugesund. Did you apply for sykepleier autorisasjon or hjelpepleier autorisasjon? :nurse:

HI Dave... You can join Yahoogroups like: Stavanger expats groups in yahoo. They have tons of info regarding housing, costs of living even jobs for your reference, in the Stavanger area. I am from Stavanger by the way. There are also a Facebook group: Filippinsk Sykepleier (Filipino Nurses).

Good luck.
