What is your take home pay as Nurse Practitioner?

Specialties NP Nursing Q/A

Hi everyone. I'm curious as to see what an actual paycheck (before taxes) looks like from an NP. I find salary websites to be not very helpful. So...

What type NP are you?

Where (state)(rural/urban) do you practice?

Are you independent or in a group?

How many years experience?

What is your before tax paycheck amount?

Monthly or bi-weekly?

Salary/hourly/other(explain)?

Avg hours on check?

What are the perks of your contract? (ie. PTO/vacation/bonuses)

I know this is very personal, but if you are able to provide input, I would appreciate it! I'm mainly interested also to see after the gov/operational costs etc have taken their share, how much are you left with?

Advanced practice is it's own reward. Trust me, it's awesome. :D

Wow, I am amazed at the meaningful contributions here. The willingness of this community's members to put their personal business out there is awesome.

I can't say my response is either.

I would more than likely respond more plainly in a PM. But I have in the past posted some very personal figures.

I feel like this topic has been covered way too many times now. Hit the search button man. ;)

Specializes in Anesthesia, Pain, Emergency Medicine.

I think that getting this info out there will only help NPs. To many NPs accept whatever is offered which is usually way below what they bring into the practice.

Using the search bar for something such as this isn't as effective with a volatile field and economy, this data frequently changes. And I agree, it puts the info out there so that others can know what to expect and negotiate in their Job.

I totally agree, this is one of the most beneficial methods of collaboration in a profession that is developing rapidly. Threads such as this can only help. How in the world can it hurt? The personal information is limited to say the least.

Hope no one here was offended by my post, it was really meant to be taken lightly.

Nevertheless, this topic has been covered extensively. And having been in the profession a few years now, No, it's not what I consider volatile. And the salary data does not change much at all.

I do think this helps new NP's entering the field. The more you know the better you can certainly negotiate. But I think a local and regional search of salaries would be more beneficial to you in processing the numbers people report. For example, some of the responders live in California, others the east coast, and myself the southwest. Very different regions with very different "VALUE" in what that take home salary actually translates to.

Again, no harm intended on my part. Just putting my 2 cents out there.
