NP certification exam

I took my ANP exam on Jan. 30th (last month) and still have not heard back. Does anyone know the turn-around time for results. I felt prepared going into the exam as I had studied for many months and took The Fitzgerald review course. However, after taking the exam, my confidence level has dropped. I felt the emphasis on the exam was very different from what the review course led me to believe. Also, I thought common problems such as diabetes would be on the exam, not the rare problems. Only 2 questions were asked about diabetes! Many, many questions were on psycho-social problems and how to respond. I understand why these types of questions need to be asked but my frustrations are with the quantity of questions asked in this particular area. I am currently working as an NP in a clinic were I see many acute and chronic conditions. Did anyone else encounter these frustration after taking the exam..... Please let me know......I'm a little nervous.

I passed! If anyone is studying for this exam and needs advice as to what to focus on.....let me know.

on your significant accomplishment!

I can imagine how very relieved you must feel. The waiting part is the worst!

Just wanted to chime in and give you a 'high five' and 'attaboy!'

(or is that 'attagirl?')

Hello. I will be taking the exam on Aug 14. AHH!!! I'm studying a review book by Winland-Brown and Dunphy which was recommended by Fitzgerald for its challenging questions. If you have any other tips on what to study, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Ana

I am getting ready to take the AANP exam in two weeks. Trying to study but can't get motivated. I took the Barkley live seminar 3 days couse that has a 99% passing rate but I am not feeling confident.

So I have two weeks to really cram the information.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could you PM me at [email protected]

thanks so much

I hated the Dunphy book and found the questions were not at ALL similar to the ones at least on the ANCC test. The Dunphy book had a LOT of statistical questions... what percent of smokers develop lung cancer, etc.etc.But I took the ANCC test so maybe it is different for the AANP test. I found the questions in the Leik book to be most like the ones on the test.

Ultimately though, I walked out of the test scratching my head at the weird questions!

How was the test and did you pass? what would you have studied differently if you had the chance to retest? Any help would be great!!!

Hi!

I am studying from a variety of books and have noticed there are a LOT of statistics questions like you mentioned.... are there THAT many on the actual AANP FNP exam??? I was under the impression it is scenario-based but you would know better!

Thank you!
