Amazed at the level of disrepect among staff

I enjoy my job and my co-workers for the most part. However, I'm just amazed at the level of disrespect among staff members. Mainly between the techs and nurses.

We have a new nurse manager and it is clear that many of the staff have no respect for her. One of my co-workers who is a tech,, in a joking matter told the NM to " get your ass over here". She said it in a joking way but I was completely shocked. She doesn't know her, and I just can't imagine joking like that with anyone at work. The NM just laughed it off, but I can tell it wasn't funny to her.

Then another tech deliberately calls the NM Ashley even though her name is Rebecca. Her reasoning is that she looks more like an Ashley than Rebecca. The NM answers to Ashley even though that is NOT her name.

Some of the tech show disrespect to nurses on a daily basis. Such as : refusing to do their job, and will sit at the nursing station talking and playing on social media.

I can go on and on but I'll stop there. I just needed to vent that is all. Thanks for listening guys.

The NM is just as guilty as the disrespectful techs in this case. She should not allow this kind of jokes.

She's supposed to be an authority figure and she's not acting the part. Very uncomfortable situation for you I'm sure.

makes no sense to me as to why any one would allow disrespect on the job. it is very unprofessional to say the least. if i were you i would lead by example. disrespect is only hurting the people who participate in it. if i were you i would try to stand out and keep away from it.

I agree with everyone. Maybe I should make her aware of my observations. If they don't respect her, how will they respect others. Just a sad situation.

I absolutely would say something to her. Even if she wants to keep it light--because she can only go on from here, can't go back--and say "that language makes the patients cringe. Stop it" or "don't call me Ashley, I am not an Olsen twin"--with this comes an alternate way of managing. Unfortunetely, she will now have to ease into it, as she has let this behavior continue.

Perhaps suggest a staff meeting, to just remind expectations, professional behaviors, that this is not a clubhouse, but a facility, and yes, hahaha you are all HYSTERICAL, but keep your day jobs, and in order to do that, this is what I expect. And that those higher up on the food chain expect professionalism or there will be progressive discipline.
