"BRATTLEBORO-After five hours of deliberation Friday, a jury found Jodi LaClaire not guilty of second-degree murder, but guilty of multiple counts of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

The decision brought to a close the emotional 13-day trial in which LaClaire, 39, of Bennington, N.H., was accused of killing Nita Lowery, 83, at the Thompson House in Brattleboro in 2009. Lowery lived at the Thompson House where LaClaire was a nursing assistant. LaClaire was the only nursing assistant on duty the night state prosecutors argued she injected Lowery with a fatal dose of insulin."

Sounds like the defense didn't do enough, and the jury may have been ding dongs.. Hard to tell.

Jodi LaClaire was an LNA, not a nurse. She lost her license last year.

It is much more sensational when it is a Nurse vs an LNA of home health aid! Same thing happens in school, it is always a teacher. even though sometimes it is a paraprofessional.

If the med cart and medication room is locked up ( it should be at all times) how in the world did this Aide get to the insulin? Nights were the worst in LTC I thought........I always told my aides if you are anywhere

The aide has Type 1 diabetes. She was accused of giving the resident her own insulin.
