Just accepted a job there. Anything fun I should know?

I just got an offer from St. Alexus. I have couple other offers too. How do you like it there at St. Alexius?

I havent arrived in ND. The hospital is up to date and very nice. If you have the job offer, and nothing else. I would take it.

I am from ND in Grand Fork. St. Alexius sounds nice with 3:1 patient ratio, but they pay a little higher here. Tough decision to make

Medical Oncology is the same way. High patient and staff satisfaction. You cannot beat that. It makes me stoked to hear that because it seems that they are very patient focused.

That staffing ratio looks amazing, from what I have read here in the forums. Good working conditions I presume. What are the ratios for other floors like ICU , Med/Surg , etc. If you happen to know of course. Thank you in advance...

Those ratios look amazing. Can it be that there still a place in the USA where they care about patient ratios and safe staffing? ND sounds like it.

I got an interview at St. Alexius a few weeks ago in Med/Surg. Staffing ratio was reported to be 4-6 patients per nurse, which is about average-not as good as the tele unit. I got offered the job the next day but I didn't take it. The pay is low for the area- in the low $20's. I'm a single mom with 2 kids and I can't afford the rent in Bismarck. Three bedroom houses are renting for over $1500 a month because of the oil boom. I have a small dog and just about every single apartment complex won't take dogs. If your single with no kids, then I guess St. Alexius would be a good start.

I found a 3br for 1200 in an apartment built 2 years ago. It was out in Mandan. which is 10m from the hospital. You really just have to know where to look.

Hi

I am looking into job in ND since I cannot find a job since graduating Dec. 13 in CA. However, I have a teenage daughter and am a single mom, so kind of worry the safety issue when she is at home while I am working.

Can anyone working there offer any insight? I am willing to put all my pay check into a good housing area and a baby sitter. I am dying to get into a hospital and would dip into my savings or borrow money to gain for 1-2 year of hospital experiences.

Any information appreciated! Thanks in advance.
