UNC ABSN Summer 2010

U.S.A. North Carolina

Has anyone heard from UNC Chapel Hill about the Summer 2010 start for the ABSN program?

Thanks for the info! I am scrambling to get all those compliance requirements (mostly hunting down immunization records :)), but it should all come together soon.

It's cool that you're from Silver Spring. We're just a metro ride away from each other--it would be fun to get together, although I'm sure you've got plenty going on with re-locating. When are you moving?

No problem! And...I was definitely glad to see someone else from DC was going to be down there! It would be great to get together. Right now I work full-time during the week, but during the weekends the only thing I do is shop for apartment stuff/try and get organized for the move. I got an apartment in Poplar Place down in Carrboro, NC and am moving some stuff down April 23-25. I won't move down completely probably until May 5 or 6 (I'm working right up until I have to leave because I'm definitely going to need the money haha). What about you? When are you moving down?

Hi enowak12,

Thank you for your reply. English is my second language - that is why I am so anxious. High school from my home country is different from yours and it was sooo long time ago. I never took Geology class and worry about rock formation etc. Also, I did not order TEAS study manual on time. Two days ago, I realized that it won't be delivered here on time. They are asking $61 for the manual and the shipping cost to deliver it in 2 business days -it is too much. I am taking the exam next week on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I did not find anyone from NC who would like to sell the TEAS study guide to me. Yesterday, I got several Nursing School Entrance Exam books from Cary library and trying to cramp through for the past 24 hrs. What about Science section? I have read several posts from the last year and many people did not like this part. What is so bad about it? Thank you.

The science section was pretty straightforward, but there were a couple random questions about rock formation type things (definitely caught me off guard). Other than the the science section was not so bad. Math was not very difficult at all either. The grammar section was straightforward as well. If you have the Nursing School Entrance Exam books and have been going over them I'm sure you'll do great! (even if you weren't looking over those books you'd still be good to go!)

anybody have the time/location for orientation tomorrow? i turned in my form without copying it down. major oops.

I made a copy of my reply form.....April 6 pre-orientation is from 5-7pm. It doesn't have the location, but when I was there it was in Fox Auditorium in the new wing of Carrington Hall. I'm pretty sure that's where all of the sessions are being held.

thank you! i really appreciate the info

I'm glad you found a place! My husband and I are hoping to secure an apartment in Durham fairly soon, and we plan to move down there the first week of May.

Would you like to try and meet for breakfast or brunch next Saturday, the 17th? I can come your way--if that doesn't work maybe we can find a different time.

Also, I got an e-mail about a facebook group for our class. Has anyone joined? I can't find it--I didn't think I was that inept with facebook, but maybe I am :) Thanks!

Durham is great! When I was down in Chapel Hill 2 weeks ago I was shopping for places to live and really liked it.

I would definitely be able to meet for either breakfast or brunch that Saturday. We'll just have to pick a place and I can travel wherever if you know of any good places. Otherwise...downtown Silver Spring has a pretty good selection.

And as for the facebook group, apparently you have to have UNC-CH listed as one of your networks. I can't do that yet because I haven't even gotten a letter from undergrad admissions so I can't make a UNC e-mail address or anything like that. But if you have UNC e-mail then I'm pretty sure all you need to do is list UNC as a network and then you can join the group. Hope that helps!

Good Morning All You Wonderful People!

Hi, I'm Zhyra I'm not in the ASBN program, but I am in the BSN May 2010 matriculation. Congratulations to those of you accepted in the program! Yay! I look forward to learning and growing with you. To those of you waiting, I hope the best! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ;)

I was wondering, is there anyone here going to the orientation/testing this Saturday, 4/10/10? It would be nice to "know" someone that's going. I'd rather not go in as the lone ranger if I can help it!

(And in case we're still keeping track, my acceptance letter was dated March 16, got it March 20, deadline to accept March 29). And I live in Sanford, NC. So, I am reallllllllly not looking forward to the commute. I hate, hate driving! Especially by myself--I get so bored. And those morning classes are sooo early  So, if there's anyone over this way (or on the way), I'd love to carpool and chit-chat our way to class :D Let me know if you're interested.

Later gators--or, uhm--tarheels! :nurse:

just got my acceptance to UNC! Look forward to meeting everyone! :)

Sorry for my slow response! Lots going on these days :). I hope you're still up for breakfast/brunch this Saturday. I don't mind coming out to Silver Spring, but, of course, there are great places in DC as well. I actually live close to the red line so I can just hop on the metro and come your way. How does that sound?

Thanks for the facebook info--hoping to get my UNC address tomorrow!

Straderj...were you accepted off the waiting list? Were you contacted by mail or phone?

for all the safety and legal requirements..

1. OSHA training/testing - where and which one do we have to do?

2. background check - can we do that online ?

3. AHA - BLS - can we just take a class?

I live in Florida and I just found out yesterday so I am definitely behind already, since i was waitlisted. I am soo freaking out! If anybody could give me any information, i would definitely appreciate it! Thanks!
