Hi everyone! I just thought I'd start the new State forums off with an introduction thread. Please feel free to reply to this thread if you wish. Otherwise, feel free to start a new topic if you wish to discuss other topics that are local or state related. Enjoy!

Hey all N.C. Nurses:

Am in the area of Greensboro looking for work. Have some leads. Keep your fingers crossed. By the way, your cold snap was very nice. I bought a zip up fleece jacket, weather said cool to cold temps but the 65 was great. LOL!!!!

Hi barefootlady.

Did you try Moses Cone? They have tons of RN openings (are you an RN?) Check their web site ~ http://www.mosescone.com

Hope that helps ~ good luck on your job search.

Gayle

Hi GLDLPN,

I have some info on Moses Cone, not much, but some. I hear they are good not to mandate overtime, do not cut hours, and are reasonable on patient load. I guess I will find out. I guess what I am asking is there any one hospital a nurse should not consider in the WS/GNBO area? I do not hear very god things about Baptist. Said they are not into older nurses. Any truth to that rumor? Seems like there are lots of agency adds, but when I called a few, there was no answer or they were vague about what they could offer me. Sounded sort of strange or maybe I am just a country girl and don't know how the game is played in the big city. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks GDLLPN.

I could not send you a pm, still not the best with this computer. I will keep in mind all of the info you sent me. I will let you know what I find out. I am back in WV for a few days. I will return to NC next week and really get cracking on a job. I need to stop making excuses and do it. Thanks for the info on FMC, I have heard some good things about them. Have a great day.

BF lady,

I know Baptist has many nurses employed that are in their 50s-60s. Conversely, I have not heard good things about Moses Cone, but I think it's highly subjective and varies from unit to unit.

Hello! I am a RN in Ontario. I am looking to relocate to the USA. In my search of where to live North Carolina looks to be the best suited for me. I have been researching Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh and Charlotte. I have been in contact with some of the hospitals and I am leaning towards Chapel Hill. Can anyone tell me about UNC? And about the town of Chapel Hill? Also if anyone can tell me about the other cities that would be greatly appreciated! I want to know about the reputation of the hospitals and the reputations of the town (crime rate, cost of living, good neighbourhoods vs bad etc). I have been doing my best to find this information on my own but Stats only tell you so much. I would really appreciate any information. Thanks so much in advanced for your time:D

Jillybean,

There is a really good hospital in Greenville, NC. It is Pitt Memorial Hospital. It is a large teaching hospital, with medical school and all. Quite like Chapel Hill but the city is smaller.

I will post you some sites.............

Hi Everyone;

I am a RN, been one for 18 years, looking to move to Greensboro area. Hope to hear from other nurses in area. Hi Elenaster and Jnette.

This is for the guy that is interested in psych nursing. I would love to talk to you as soon as you graduate or before. I am the Nurse Recruiter at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro. We are one of the state psych facilities so we have the state benefits. You really don't need to get a year of med surg before you come. We have a good training program and we also have a medical unit that you can get experience on.
