Unfortunately I failed my first attempt, so how do I got about retesting. I know there is a 45 day wait period, but I want to go ahead and get signed up to test. I have registered and paid at pearson, but what about my ATT? Do I get a new one? How would I get another? Help....:uhoh21:

Hey there...I'm in the same boat as you. I already re-registered with NCBON and am working extra shifts like mad to save up the $200 to go to PearsonVue. Are you taking a review course? I'm considering the Kaplan one, but it's so darn expensive! Oh, as far as the ATT goes, I'm pretty sure you just use the same one, that it covers you as long as it's used within the 'expiration date' that's on it. Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere. Good luck with everything!

I am a very independent learner. This helps to be a nurse as we have to make so many decisions. Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN is what I used. Of course it is a big book, with a CD also (looked at it and the 1,000 of questions and went back to the paper book). It has many small sections, I'm talking a couple of pages here, and then 10 to 20 questions about that section. I did not read the sections, only answered the questions at the end. At the back of the book there is 250 more questions that I answered. It helped me to check my answers at each section as the information was still fresh on my mind and understand what I missed. My school uses the ATI testing, however, we aren't taught from their books, so that seemed not the best thing to do. Also taking an ATI review was available for 3 days. It was to cover the general populations weakness and not focus on particular weakness of an individual. I knew my weaknesses and went after that material to study. No I did't do their review or pay to take any review. I passed the NCLEX-RN on Independence Day 7-4-07. :balloons:

It takes time to review this big book, but it paid off for me. Good Luck!!

I agree use Saunders book and CD. The book marks triangles at important points of the outline. The CD gives good thorough but concise rationales.

I bought Mosby's study cards too. THey came in a little box that was easy to take everywhere. This way I did a few questions almost constantly. Instead of wasting minutes if out somewhere..I took out my cards.

Actually you DO get a new ATT

Hind sight is great....I should have got the cards also for the convenience and mobility they afford one. However, I carried my book along in the car, train to FL. and back again. It is great for a work out for the arm muscles and not bad brain exercises too. I used Saunders all the way through school, so it was just a natural to keep on using it. Our instructors told us to start reviewing the minute we started school and I did. Good luck to all those preparing for the NCLEX.

I did Kaplan which I thought was helpful. Some hospitals pay you back for the course once you pass. I also used the Mosby's study cards. I thought they were very convenient and helpful.

I was wrong!!! You do get a new ATT, after you re-register with both your state's BON and PearsonVue. I thought I had read that somewhere, but I was mistaken. Now I'm waiting for my new ATT to be emailed before I can schedule my test date with PearsonVue. Does anyone know if you have to wait the entire 45 days before you can schedule the test? For instance, once I get my ATT, can I schedule my test or do I have to wait until my 45 days (August 15th, I think) are up??? Thanks in advance...
