I received a call yesterday saying I was accepted to the Spring 2014 RN program. I wasn't accepted for the Fall 2013 RN. I was surprised because I was told originally when I asked that I couldn't take the TEAS until next year for next Fall and they wouldn't apply my current TEAS score to the Spring semester. So this is totally the opposite of what I was told before. My score was 75.3. So I was asked if I wanted to continue with the LPN program that I was accepted to for Fall 2013 or chose the RN for Spring 2014. I chose to go straight for the RN! So excited. I had to change my schedule for Fall though :( Has anyone else heard from the Nursing department about acceptance into the Spring 2014 RN program??? Please post when you do. They said they would officially send out orientation letters in a few weeks. Good luck to anyone who applied for the Spring!

Yes, I took almost everything. I have to take a humanities course and those 2 health/fitness credits. Oh and Dosage Calculations. I haven't completed a college math course either, which it seems like I don't need for ADN, but I know I will need for my BSN. How bout you?

I have taken everything except Microbiology,Pharmacology and Dosage. I will be taking Micro,Dosage,Med terminology, and a history class in the fall. You definitely will need a math if you continue on for your BSN as well as Chemistry. Some schools say Inorganic is ok,some want Organic chem most also want Statistics. I plan on taking one elective each semester to decrease the load for when I go for my BSN. Oh if you don't mind what was your score on the TEAS?

Congrats!!!

Thanks! I was so surprised when they called me! Can't wait for orientation! How did yours go?

And to get the fitness/health thing out the way if you want you can take Health and Fitness for Life which satisfies both requirements.

I got a 78 on my TEAS with a 3.1 gpa. I actually want to do health/fitness courses. I used to be athletic in high school but fell off. Plus working out would be a good stress reducer, not to mention dropping some necessary lbs! I have Principles of Inorganic Chem completed, so maybe I will do Chem, Statistics and Pol. Sci. this Fall. How did you do? What's your plan for Fall?

I got a 75.3 on the TEAS and my GPA was a 3.7 at the time. That's good that you are choosing to do the physical classes. That was my plan too but it didn't fit into my class schedule as far as credits so I just took the two credit class instead. I am going to take Micro,Med Terminology, dosage and a History class this fall. I wanted to take Statistics but didn't want to combine it with Micro. I am not great at math naturally and would need a lot of study time for that class.

Since i got a 95 on the Teas and they 'misplace' my paperwork they offered to kick someone out of either the evening or morning program to accommodate me, i declined because i know how important it is for them and i don't want a guilty conscience. I actually got accepted into the nursing program at 4 other schools, Concordia,Cochran, stony brooks and Lehman, but since i was offered a spot in the spring i accepted. We're going to be in the same class. Please do me a favor and take Microbiology and Pharmacology before you get in the nursing program. Those courses are rigorous when it comes to studying and the exams are out of the world. I suggest Dr.***** for Pharmacology and Prof. ***** for Microbiology they are the best. For statistics i suggest Prof. *****. It might be on a Saturday...but his exams are so easy and you guys review before the exam for the exam which is almost 100% the same. If you don't take stat this fall and start it while we're in the nursing program i can help. Congrats again. See you in orientation.

@ Other nursing student - Please make sure to get your CPR class in before you start the nursing program, i believe it's a requirement. I am so excited to start and get over with this program..

Orientation was great. It was nice to see a few faces that I already know. We got to meet all the profs in the nursing department. They basically told us everything we needed to do this summer. (background checks, drug tests, vaccination, CPR training, where to get uniforms, Our Fall class/clinical schedules, school supplies we needed (stethoscope, watch, etc), where to get/buy uniforms, etc.) It was good, they didn't leave any stones unturned.

They also gave us a list required books. All 11 of them! I'm not sure how they expect me to read them in the summer since I'm taking summer classes as well but oh well.

If you want the book list, I can post them here. Although I'm not sure if any of them will change by spring term.
