Anyone else here is applying for the WCC nursing program in the Fall (2013)?

I just took my TEAS test today and kinda nervous. I really don't know what all my scores mean yet and I'm hoping someone else in here is in the same boat as I.

Hi noel877, I also took the TEAS V for WCC Fall 2013 Nursing. I scored a 81.3%, not a very high score. I hope it's good enough to get me in the program. Do you know when the acceptance letters go out? Any word on the cut-off score?

I got 82. Our scores almost identical. On my report it said that my score is at 91% national percentile ranking, and 93% program ranking. So I am actually thinking that our scores are very high. whether or not they're high enough, I don'tknow.

I was told there's no cut-off score. Admissions will forward our scores to the powers that be and I guess they'll contact the top scorers.

Do you know how many seats are available? Also, if you dont mind... what's your percentile ranking? Im just trying yo understand this whole ranking thing better.

My score was 85.3%, and I applied to RN Day. I am NOT optimistic now because of my score. I honestly feel like there'll be a bunch of other applicants who will have got 90's and high 80's and beat me out :(

Btw, my national percentile was 95, ADN percentile 96, for comparison purposes. I don't know how those percentiles will relate to how WCC students did this year.

I studied the entire ATI book but didn't do the online tests. On the TEAS, I got 90 or better in all areas EXCEPT Science, which was around 72%. I'm upset that that screwed up my overall score. The science section was too broad and not all topics were covered in the book.

I find it hard to imagine someone like you with a 96% percentile program ranking not getting in. I hope you do.

You're missing the point. The percentiles shown on the TEAS results come from a specific chosen sample of all ADN programs who have taken the test, not just WCC. The national and ADN percentiles have nothing to do with how WCC students will rank on the test.

For WCC, the scores (not percentiles) are looked at and stacked from highest to lowest. Only the top scores get into the program.

I actually did not miss the point. I was just optimistic. I was thinking/assuming that WCC applicants are somewhat inline with the national samples. If we're high on the national samples, its possible we're high on the WCC list as well. And you're right. Scores is what matters here and probably the only thing WCC will look at.

I took my teas exam at WCC and scored a 87.3 I was really hoping to hit the 90s to feel safe. Ugh I hate that we have to wait so long to find out...

Well you did 2 pts better than my 85.3 :)

I too was hoping to get at least a 90 to feel "safe". I wish we could know how many other people did the same or better than us...

I think most of us are all hoping to hit the 90s. But somehow something unexpected always happen I'm sure.

For me, reading and math were always my highest in the practice tests but these two sections became my lowest in the actual test. I hate that our future is being decided on this ONE test.

Does someone, anyone knows how many seats are available for both day and night shifts?

On the test, I got 90 and above on each part except science, which lowered my score to 85.3. It also upsets me that the test is the only factor they look at. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I don't think it's fair that that can't be looked at as well. Why not factor in the GPA with the TEAS test?

I believe it's 40 seats in each? Also, some seats are reserved for LPN's who are transitioning to RN's.

My GPA is 3.7. Not as high as yours but I'm sure it would help a lot if they factor it in. It is much harder to get consistently high grades than do well on just one test in my opinion. But it is what it is. We'll just have to wait I guess.
