Love the advice More CowBell.. and also the comment about Mrs. ******, lmao..

I have a few questions for you. I do have A&P I-II under my belt as well as Micro. I wanted to know if i can buy the 3rd edition instead of the 4th edition since on amazon it is WAY cheaper than the package deal??? Do I really need to get the latest edition? Also I have applied to SNYA, and i received an email stating there is an information session in NYC on July 19, do I have to go?

    Thanks again for the advice!

One of the worst financial decisions you can make is buying all those books brand new right away. The school isn't strict to the point that they'll make sure you have a specific book. Only books you'll need to bring in are clinical calculations and the A&P review book. Trust me when I say you don't need the latest editions. It's all the same material, only difference would be page numbers. Shop around eBay, Half, Amazon.

Honestly most of my books sat around and collected dust. PM me if you need a specific book and maybe I can help you out.

The Quiz's are strictly off verbatim, a better investment would be a lightscribe pen.

Seriously don't be intimidated by the material, the school does everything in it's power to help students succeed. The pace may even seem slow at times.

Jesus I haven't been on this thing since getting accepted. Congrats to all those who have been accepted. I'm going to offer some advice now and as soon as I graduate I will give you even more juicy advise (wink).

Books: I did'nt order books until third semester and I only ordered books for one class, but not everyone is going to get away with this. If you took microbiology, anatomy I and II at any college you will be able to get away without having the books all of first and second semester. But if I had to do it all over again I would have bought the pharmocology books early to make life easier. by the way I ended up buying this later on. If you have none of the following classes under your belt i would buy all of the books.

Tuition: As soon as you pay first semesters tuition, do what you have to do to get the next semesters tuition together. This school does not play when it comes to their money. If you think your going to show up with some sob story to buy some extra time......think again!!

The program is intense, study your _____ off!!! Focus all of your attention on the quizzes, your not going to know what I mean right now, but just keep it in the back of your mind, the quizzes are key.....you'll see.....

Apply to SNYA.org NOW to get some extra money it's a grant, i'm not going to beat this to death.....in the words of NIKE....JUST DO IT !

Other than that, have fun meet new people, study hard...and tell ***** that you love her every morning.....
CowBell, i went online to SNYA and it say as part of their criteria that you need to have worked in the health field there in NY for at least 3 months. i am moving from GA back to NY so this doesnt apply to me. should i apply and leave that part blank anyway.

    Per SNYA:

    - <SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">At least three months of paid health care experience (proof: paystub or W-2)

    14. does it matter where i worked (city and state) in the health care field?
no, but you must be able to provide us with documented proof.

it does not matter where your experience was obtained. as long as your not or where not in a union. your good to go...apply

by the way i obtained this info from faq section on the website.....

    CLASS OF 2012,

Please listen to grindin. I currently own NO TEXTBOOKS OR WORKBOOKS and if not Valedictorian, I will @ least be graduating with honors!

The only book that is a MUST HAVE is the drug handbook for clinicals and even that you can barrow from your local library. Other than that, buy books as needed n USED or Older editions are a great option. Everyone learns differently because there were those who absoultely needed the books. See what works for you n don't be intimidated by those who carry around ALL their textbooks. Doesn't mean they have any lead over you lol

To grindin- thanks for the word of advice. Saved me a lot of headaches n financial trouble since I really didn't have $600 to begin with. Thanks a ton
