Are there any places in the 5 boroughs (NY) that are hiring new grad? Are there any places that are picking up the phone? Are there any places that don't require experience? I mean COME ON NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! At least pick up the phone and when you do don't ell me you have over 1200 applications for 20 positions. Can you tell I am frustrated:angryfire What am I gonna do with this degree I feellike I can't even go back to school for my masters cause I need experience THIS JOB MARKET SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:down: I can''t even afford to look at another state cause I don't have another 200$ just laying around :crying2:

My feelings, exactly. November 1st I have to start paying student loans with what? So much hype. NUrsing shortage, nursing shortage, well, now, here I am, and now it's experience, freeze, not hiring. bull!

Hello im sorry to hear about the problems your having, have u tried agencies? Sometimes going into an area, of nursing your not interested like psych will get you in the door.

You know, I am at my wits end. I just received my last unemployment check. with it I will pay the rent. then it's homelessness for me if i don't find a job real soon. i am so afraid. and yes i am trying everything, including working as a phlebotomist which i am certified in and still no job in sight.

Nursing homes?

what did your classmates who have jobs do differently than you

what better way to get a job in a place than to know someone who already works there

I know this is a difficult time for you, keep calling different agencies, try looking into different areas, definately nursing homes and psych areas, If u drive also look in new jersey and long island. There is a position out there for you. You just have to not give up u will find it. Also consider small doctors offices. and whatever pay your offered take it. Gaining the background experience is more valuable in the longterm then the pay for now. Maybe even working at your old job may open doors for you. there were some recent employees who passed their boards and were hired at kchc. But the most important thing is whatever is offered to you take it no matter what the pay is. You worked so hard to get where your at. A little longer and you will reap the benefits of all your hard work.

SMN, thank you for your response. however, i live in nj but i do not have an nj license yet. also what does kchc stand for? anyway, want to let you know that i appreciate your response 'cause it makes sense. thanks again:cry:

Nursing homes don't want you unless you have experience. Hopsitals don't want yoou if you don't have experience. It's like being a new grad is a bad word. Relocation is the only thing you can do. It's really bad, in NY roght now. All the people that I know are working got in thru a hook-up.

i know. but, you know what? i am going to keep my thoughts on what student male nurse said. something will come up and i'll take whatever comes up. gotta keep the hope alive to keep from going under.

Your job search might be easier once you have your RN license. Since there are so many new grads or even experienced nurses looking for jobs, hospitals are less likely to hire someone without a license as a graduate nurse. At least with your license you can level the playing field somewhat.

I think you missed the thread. I am a Registered Professional Nurse for the state of New York. Thank you, anyway.
