hi all! your stories are so inspiring (esp Paco's!). You are a determined bunch. 64 seats out of 700 is crazy. I originally applied to SB as my backup for this upcoming summer session but did not anticipate it would be so difficult to be accepted. My creds are ok but 2/3 of my recs are from non-academic/ medical supervisors. I wish I read these threads earlier!!! I am realizing that I probably don't have much of a chance getting in. :-(

My question is: how is SB with financial aid? The program is not scarily priced but any financial aid is better than none. I've been going through threads but haven't read every single page and a search on allnurses.com was fruitless. If you know where the answer is, you can just link me. Thank you so much for your help and good luck everyone!

    Hi All,

I just received this email from Stony Brook,

"The School of Nursing will be sending out admissions decisions for the
Accelerated One Year Nursing Program beginning the week of Monday, January
7, 2013. The decisions will go out over the course of several days so
please do not be concerned if you have not heard from us by Friday, January
    11. You may email or call us if you have not heard by Monday, January 14."

Hopefully this date isn't pushed back.

I would be utterly SHOCKED if they kept to that promise!

Paco, is Stonybrook notorious for sending out admission decision letters super late? I've read through some previous threads (not every single page of course) but can't remember if this is the case...

In one word: YES. That has been the case for the last 2 years I would say. However, with the recent email that was sent to the 2013 candidates (stating decisions will be sent starting the week of 1/7/13), we will have to wait to see how true they stick to their claim this year.

Thanks for the info Paco. I did go back and read the old thread. Some people didn't receive admissions info til the very last minute. How nerve racking! On the thread, SB class of 2014, folks have been reporting acceptance emails. I still haven't received any info but my friend, who is SB alumni, received her acceptance email today. Her last name begins with an H. I think its great that SB is on time, in some regards, in releasing admissions decisions...

Is it better to apply to the 2yr program instead of the 1 yr porgram as one who has a bachelor degree?
