NYP New Grad Meet and Greets

U.S.A. New York

Published

I've been invited to one of NYP's New Grad Meet and Greets and would like to know what the entire vetting/evaluation process is like. I tried asking via e-mail, but the only response I got from them was essentially to ask them when I get to the Meet and Greet.

Has anyone here been hired through this process (or at least been through a significant portion of it) and can give me some insight?

Primarily I want to know how many "stages" there are and how long it takes between each stage. All I know that this Meet and Greet is like a pre-interview. How long does it take them to let you know if you'll move ahead in the selection process? And *if* I move ahead in the process, how many more interviews/evaluations does it take for them to decide if they'll hire me?

(On another note, are there similar new grad events like this for any other hospital systems in NYC? The closest things I've found so far are open houses, but I assume only the experienced RNs actually get interviews/jobs from those.)

This seems crazy, not the process itself necessarily, but the time. Who could wait so long after graduation to get a job!? I think moving to a place with more available jobs might be a strategy worth consideration.

Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from NYP if you're selected to interview/come to the meet and greet? I just submitted my application/took my battery test for the new grad program, curious when I should expect an invite (IF I get an invite).

I suggest looking at this thread for the timeline, tips, and questions. It was for NYP's New Grad events for Summer 2015 graduates.
