Hello, Newly grad from LPN program in new jersey. I live in New York planning on going to go to NCC....i live in brooklyn....Does anyone know where the clinicals are and how long it would take me if I plan on driving. Also is it best to go in the eve or days? Thanks for any advice. Private Messages welcome.

I am interested in going there as well so I investigated some of this. The clinical sites are all over Nassau County and I am not sure how you can pick them or if you even can.

I know that for the regular ADN program the evening one is a lot more competitive than the day one mostly due to the limited seats. I'm not sure how it is for someone bridging from LPN to RN though. If you could go during the day I would definitely do it because it sucks traveling from Brooklyn during rush hour. Depending on where you live you would basically have to take the Belt to the Southernstate to the Meadowbrook, and all these roads get clogged by 3:00 PM. I would never want the added stress of trying to get there on time.

In any case the nusrsing program there is considered very good and is supposed to be pretty hard. Wish you the best of luck.

I willl be attending nassau in the fall as an evening student. I was told it is easier to get in the day because they have more slots. For the evening program we will be going to plainview for clinicals. Those in the day program will be utilizing Franklinand some other hospitals.

Very new to this site not sure if I'm doing this right but here goes.....;) Thanks for your help. I wanted to get in this fall for the AP2 or Micro so I can start the LPN to RN in the spring but the classes are in the middle of the day.....I can't do that I would need early AM to deal with the traffic. They need me to take at least 30 credits at the school.....therefore i would need to take those classes there. Pretty frustrating. Anyway i don't put all my eggs in one basket...I 've got my eyes on other LPN to RN programs but I really wanted to go to NCC.

If you have your LPN you can skip the first nursing semester pending test results. If you should skip over this semester you will probably want to have Medical Micro and A & P2 done with the rest of the pre reqs which may include English101 and 102, Sociology 101, and Psych 101 and 203!

There are many students from all over the tri state area attending Nassau. We all deal with the traffic and leave plenty of time to get to the clinicals! The day classes you will most likely have to be at the clinicals by 730am. Many people from further distances get there much earlier than that.

I suggest going to an advisor or go down to the nursing office to find out how to take the placement test to see if you can skip over the first semester. Ask Other LPN students who have done this what to expect on the test! I am not sure if the application session for the up and coming semester is done yet.
