Moving to Kingston NY- Any advice?

U.S.A. New York

Does anyone have any information about the hospitals in Kingston NY? I am a new grad BSN and would like to move to Kingston within the next few months. I would like to work in the NICU and would like to know which hospital is best for me to apply to? I tried to get in touch with the nurse recruiter at Benidictine Hospital to get some information on their orientation program but it seems impossible.

If you want to work in a NICU, you will have to look elsewhere. The two hospitals in Kingston (Kingston Hospital and Benedictine) do not have one. Also, the two hospitals are still in the process of merging and NYSNA has been brought in. Honestly, this situation has created a very negative work environment. Also, if you are looking for higher acuity, you will not find it there.

Take a look at Vassar Brothers or Albany Medical Center. You will probably have to put in that year of med-surg, however, before being considered for the NICU. Best of luck.

A little further south there is a new hospital opening in Middletown NY in August. Orange Regional Medical Center. It will be a combination of Arden Hill hospital and Horton Hospital which will close. They say it will have a NICU which the other two don't currently have. Middletown is about an hour south of Kingston.
