Need info please. Foreign Grad, No local license, Migrated to USA. Confused w/my options.
You need to apply to have your education evaluated by your state. Then if it is a a level equate lent to that of the US then they will allow you to take the NCLEX exam.

Albany Medical Center
I got the job the old fashioned way. I applied for a position on their website and was called in by the unit manager for an interview about a month later. I took the earliest interview date and prepared myself for the interview, and showed up early with a positive attitude. I was offered the position three days later.

Albany Medical Center
I was also offered a position at AMC and will be starting next month. I would like to know of areas that are close by the hospital that are nice and safe, where i could rent a 2br apartment. currently i do not have a car and will be working the night shift and sometimes evenings. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Brand new nurse, starting on third shift
I'm a new nurse as well and will be working the night shift starting next month. At this point i'm just happy that i got a job. I wouldnt mind gaining a few extra pounds on the night shift either because i'm pretty skinny. i'm just a bit concerned that it may not be quiet when i get home in the mornings to sleep. After working for a year you can move to the day shift if you dont like the night.

ANY JOB UPSTATE NY?
I'm a new BSN RN and I have been trying real hard to get a job both upstate and in the city. I currently live in Ulster county but im willing to relocate for a full time poition. Does anyone know of a medical facility that is willing to hire a new RN? I am not too picky with salary, i just need to get the 1 year experience out of the way.

Upstate Job Climate
I applied to both Orange Regional Medical Center and Hudson Valley Heath Alliance and i'm still waiting for an interview. I recetly got my license and i have a BSN. I am real woried that i will not be able to get a job. At this point it seem that having experience is much more impotant to them than a BSN or Associate. I have been told by so many places that i must have at least a year experience before they will even consider me for a positon. Hopfully i'll be able to get a job soon.
