has anyone attended this program? i take the entrance test in april and i dont know what to expect. is it very hard? is this program any good?

Thanks nurseguy.... U have been really helpful. Wow u got good scores....was the tabe exam difficult? I am just worried about the antoymn and syn.. I am not too good in that but I have been studying a lot so hopefully I will pass :( was the spelling and sentence structure hard? What is the rules for the day of the test like cellphone and bathroom wise?? Are u allowed to use the bathroom within the three hours? Was the words in the vocab hard to understand? I know I keep asking lol sry. Thanks alot!

Hey trini, the material on the tabe exam is actually easier than those on the CNET. But for the TABE you actually get less time to complete each section, thats what made i t a bit challenging. I did not find the vocab on the cnet to be too difficult and the reading comprehension is fairly straight forward is you pay attention. This is how my day at the CNET went:

*When i arrived all the students were told to stay in the cafeteria and wait for further instructions.

*Then all the candidates were then told which room they were assigned to based on the permit that they had.You have to have your permit or you wont sit the exam.

*When i went to my assigned room, the proctor checked my permit and my id and she took it from and said i would get it back at the end of the exam.

*We were told before the exam if we need to use the bathroom, do before the exam becuase they will not stop the exam so we can go out of the room. Once you left the room, you wont be allowed to come back to finish the exam.

*We were told to turn off cell phones

*We were told that once we completed the exam, we woud get the results in the mail three weeks from the exam date; and if we passed we would move on with the next step of the selectiion process.

*If you passed you get your results mailed to you , as well as a date for you to go do the tabe all in the same letter.

I hope this helps. good luck

Wow they don't let u leave the room to use the bathroom within three hours..so what if u are pregnant? Lol, anyway thanks for all the advice it was really helpful....I will use it to the best of my ability. I have been trying to learn as many words as possible but it's too many words. I didn't attend high school in united states, I went to school in Trinidad so words from 11th and 12th grade is very peculiar to me. I wish I could know what words are on the test lol. I tried the practice test on the language section and I keep getting 43/60 and I know that might not be Enough to pass...I am really bad in vocabulary. All I could do is try right? I wish my brain could store all the words so it would be easy to get it went I need it if I am making sense lol. Anymore advice you have for me would be really grateful. Thanks nurseguy, have a great day

I took the test today it was really easy.

For the math and reading i used an NLN lpn/lvn book to studying and for literacy i used an s.a.t. book i got when i was ten.. :)

I'm a little agitated that people had a hard time with the math alot of the questions were obvious especially division/multiply decimals and percents to decimal conversions.

For example 89%=.89 or if your multiplying with decimals and the answer choices have the same numbers just different decimal places (ie: a) .25 b)2.5 c) .0025) all you have too look for it how many decimal places are in the answers (ie: .25*.33= .0825 {four decimals places}) everyone can save a lot of time if they understood that basic rule when it came to calculating with decimals

Good luck everyone and ill post when i get my TABE date :)

I took the test yesterday the math was easy but I didn't do well in the vocabulary section at all but I will see what my results are.....I am currently looking for other schools that have an Lpn program for 11 months. I am disappointed in myself with the words....all I could say is whoever taking the exam make sure u study words but don't focus on the words in the study guide because half the words was not in the study guide good luck. I hope I pass.

Nurseguy, what is the Tabe exam like? is it divided up in sections? how much time do you get to do each section?

when you pass the Tabe and get your application, what is in it? I took the exam on saturday. I wouldnt say that it was easy because of the time limit. How long did it take them to call you for your interview?

The Material on the TABE exam i thought was not difficult, however as i said before the time they give you to complete it was challenging. For example, in one math section of the tabe i took, you were expected to complete 25 questions in 15 minutes. The time for each section is determined by the computer you are using not the proctors so, once you start a section on your computer it will shut you out when the time is up. Practice questions from the ged book.

As far as the rest of the process, I was given a packet once i passed the TABE. The packet contain documents that needed to be filled out for example references and medical exam forms and also you need to get cpr cards. They give 30 days from the day you recieve the package to bring everything back. In my case, the day i brought everything back, they checked it, gave me a writting sample to complete, also i had to do a registration form. Then i was given a really quick interview. I was told that i was now a qualified candidate for the program based on my results on the tests as well as the info i provided in the package. But i would have to wait until all scores and packages of all the candidates that took the exams this season to be in to see if i will be chosen. I was told that i would know sometime in june.

Because i was a part of the very first ppl invited to take the tabe test and to return the package ( i was finished with all the the requirements in the 2nd week of feburary), i have a really long time to wait to hear if i get in. I hope i do make into the program. good luck to everyone.

Thank you for your help.

NURSEGUY1 you should have no problems getting into the LPN program if you passed your cnet, tabe and completed you package and did the interview..What i am surprised about is that they didnt give you a school to attend automatically(i.e. , BALC, Mid Manhattan or Coler Goldwater)..I grauduated from Mid Manhattan last year from their CNA program and I know a lot of ppl who was in the LPN Program there...normally you would go thru the process you went thru and then they would ask for half of the tuition which was $2300 last year....i dont know if it increased or not...maybe they are trying something new this year and getting everything done early and not waiting til the last minute(August) to do everything before school starts in September!

Best of luck to all those taking the CNET and TABE!:)

I didnt pass the language section in the cnet however i did really well in the math and the reading i did ok so they invited me to take the tabe tomorrow. Question is the tabe harder than the cnet exam?

Hey trini good luck on the tabe exam, if you were able to manage the cnet you should be ok on the tabe test. i hope you do well and we can be classmates this year. i am so nervouvs because i know alot of ppl do well on the test so i dont know how they choose ppl for the program.

I passed the Cnet as well and my test for the TABE is thursday; i reveiwed TABE practice tests and nothing is hard in it I just have to stay calm and use my sense good luck everyone :)
