HeyThey appear to be in the middle of an open house for RNs. The second and last day it will be held is this upcoming Friday. The first meeting was this past Monday the 6th.Anyone here attend, or heard any good news.

Hi Idani, can you tell me about the interview process and if any tests were given to you prior to interview or after? What kind of questions were asked on the interview? Thank you.

Sure, I interviewed with the recruiter first and then she arranged for me to interview with the hiring manager the same day. Practice behavioral questions ex. Tell me about a time you had a conflict and how did you deal with it? A couple of days later I was offered the position and I took a pharmacology exam online.

Hi idani,

Would you be able to explain the process/timeline from when you applied online to when you heard back from HR/Nurse Recruiting?? I have applied already, and I just want to see how long it took to hear back? Did you call to check? Thanks!

I've been applying to north shore for the past 6-8 months

Congrats again Idani! I have been applying to Northshore LIJ for over a year now. Are you a newgrad?

I applied to them a few times this year. I have almost two years experience in acute care in hospital but they never call me. Experience is useless. I feel im worse off than new grad in terms of job search. Im grateful i have a job but its not in the area i want to be eventually, i want more critical care type nursing.

Thank you DestinedRN, yes I am a new grad.

Hi MissJessRN

I also feel that my experience is useless. What I did with Lenox Hill, I applied for every position that was posted online to make sure nurse recruiters would notice it eventually. Once the nurse recruiter called me, he told me about one position that I wasn't sure I qualify for. He told me to call him in one week to see if nurse manager was interested to see me. So, 1 week later I called and left a message for him that if I didn't qualify for that position if he has positions available that match my experience. In a few days I had interview for the position that matched my experience, but I was told there are also 2 internal candidates that want to get that spot. So, I felt like my time was wasted but at the same time it was a positive experience. So, my advice is apply for as many positions as possible and then wait for them to call you. Also remember that it takes several months to get a call, I waited at least 3 -4 months.

DestinedRN if you're a new grad my advice to you is keep applying if this is the place you really want to be. However, continue to apply to other places and keep all options open.

I will do that. I keep applying to every new position in every hospital, each and everyday. :(
