Job prospects in upstate NY

U.S.A. New York

Published

Greetings all.

Looking for a general idea of the job prospects in upstate NY - the Adirondack region particularly and even more specifically, in and near Essex County.

I've been here asking about jobs upstate for about a year now. What you usually read here is "there's jobs upstate", but no one says where. Some people say Albany Medical Center, but the pay is more pathetic than my current pay in tax-free FL, and I met a nurse who quit and told me it's horrible.

Good luck.

I'd like to get a job in or near Saratoga Springs, if anyone wants to PM me. :)

Specializes in MedSurg, PACU, Maternal/Child Health.

Upstate is a lot more new grad friendly. I have posted several times in the past 3 years about what cities ...try Syracuse, Rochester, Plattsburg, Buffalo, Elmira, Saratoga Springs, Hudson, etc. I have actually seen hospitals in these cities advertise "new grads welcome" in their job ads in nursing magazines. Just look on indeed.com and type New York as location and "new grad" in the subject and you will find many upstate hospitals. Also do a general google search for upstate NY and new grad and you will get the websites for these hospitals.

Specializes in CGRN.

I don't think there's much between Glens Falls Hospital and CVPH in Plattsburgh (which by the way I hear is an amazing place to work).
