I applied for the Psych specialty too! I hear there are not a lot of students who go this route. I'm wondering if it is due to less interest or that they only admit a small number.

Wait a sec, so it IS rolling admission? When I called and asked they said it wouldn't make much of a difference when you submit the app. I decided not to submit yesterday so I can add some more details and make it perfect. Wish I read this earlier... Anyone else on the same boat?

Anyone know how much Columbia likes people with direct patient care? or does it not really matter?

its not rolling. everyone finds out in feb regardless of when you submit. Andd im not sure about the direct care aspect. im sure it could only help.

I don't know how I am going to wait until February!! It's been two days since I've submitted my application and I've already checked the website 3872828 times for no logical reason - it's not like they'd give us a decision that quick - but I'm just so anxious

I think direct patient care will always give you an edge but since they don't have a requirement or even mention it I don't think it's that big of a deal if you don't have any. But I think it does make it more difficult to explain why you chose your particular speciality

I heard that too actually. I feel like it may be due to less interest. Good luck, hopefully we all make it!

Just got an email with a link to my application status! That was quick. They had said they'd send it "within the next several weeks" but hey I'm definitely not complaining that it only took them 4 days!
