Buffalo area nursing programs?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on programs in the Buffalo area. I have applied to ECC to take my science prerequisites but I have heard that the ADN program there is super competitive and hard to get into. I already have a bachelor's degree in another field so I'm also considering one of the RN BS programs at UB, possibly the accelerated program. Or getting my RN at ECC or NCC and then working while I get my BS at UB, D'Youville or Trocaire. Then there's the option of getting my LPN at NCC and working while I go on somewhere for my RN/BS. Help?

I am currently a level 2 student at ECC and I love the program. It is extremely organized, the staff is helpful, we have tons of resources to help us succeed. Yes, ECC is competitive to get into but UB accelerated program is too. Trocaire/D'youville accept anyone who can actually pay the steep tuition to attend. Also, the LPN route and NCCC could also be beneficial but last time I checked they were not accepting any nursing applications until some undisclosed date. If I was in your shoes I would go to ecc and take all pre-reqs. This is the most cost-effective route. You will pay triple that to take those same classes at trocaire or d'youville. Apply to all the programs once you are done with pre-reqs and go from there.

This was just what I needed.... has to be the most helpful for me that I have seen on here, ! lol.... everyone has good info in bits and pieces but I was searching for comparables right in Buffalo ! NCCC is accepting now, and is having an open house.... so checking out both NCCC and ECC... getting the whole ball rolling "one step at a time.... I guess"

Just going to go and talk to some, I understand NCCC may allow a bit for what you already have and transfer credits ... and ECC may not ? don't know yet.... does anyone know if there is such a thing as "mature student" and what that consists of ?

ECC accepts transfer credits and I'm not sure as to what you mean as "mature student."

However, I am 23 yrs old and most of my classmates are 30+. There are a few students my age and maybe 10 that are younger. However, most of the student are older. Most of my classmates took all of their pre-reqs before being accepted into the program. Have you checked out the Daemen 1+2+1 program? You attend Daemen for 1 yr ECC for 2 then you have your ADN then you go back to Daemen for one more year and will then have a BSN.

Hmmmmmm, NO , BUT THANKS ..... I hadn't heard about that one.... ! Where is Daemen ? and by the way... "Mature Student" is I term a few have mentioned here and there, (Nice way to say "Old lady" hahahahhahaha ) actually, not "PC" but perhaps a Senior Citizen or for that matter someone over 55... but no one has heard of it anyway ! lol.

Daemen is on main st. in Amherst. I would say about 20 minutes or less from Buffalo.

Hi. I am 32years old mother of two little ones and I am thinking about going back to school to get my nursing degree. I know UB has a good nursing program and ECC and NACC so I was thinking about picking one of them. Then I heard about Trocaire.edu but I don't know anything about it so I though I'll post it here to get some responses.

I've been in Buffalo a little over 5 years and during this time I have never heard of Trocaire.edu. After watching College Inc documentary my immediate

thought it was just one more those fake for-profit universities.

Is a degree from Trocaire equivalent to say ECC or NACC? UB is a 4 years University so I can't really compare it to that.

Is it worth attending Trocaire why or why not? I am interesting to hearing what your have experience or if you know anyone you know who graduated from Trocaire was able to get a job or not.

I am a RN who graduated from Trocaire in 2004 and found a job quick. My gripe with them was the expensive tuition & less than sensitive instructors.

in just recently attended trocaire and their program both the lpn and the rn is so unorganized. my father had passed and they just didnt care i had to take a test inorder to get a decent grade.
